Hey

I am from the UK but I have been invited to a friends to watch the superbowl on 1st of febuary

I was hoping that people from this site that are from america would be able to give me some super tips on the best player or best team and maybe a predicted score because we are planning to bet on that

thanks all the way from the UK

I am for the Steelers since I am only an hour or so from Pittsburgh. Their defense is very good so the score against them should be low but anything can happen in the Superbowl. They should win if Troy Polamalu and Hines Ward are healthy.

I'm rooting for Arizona. They've been one of the perennial losers for a long time. If there was a relegation system in professional American football like in the FA they would have been relegated long ago and maybe come back a few times but never staying the top flight for long. They play in a really weak division but their quarterback, Kurt Warner has won a Super Bowl before with the St. Louis Rams- another team that was a perennial loser for a long time.

Larry Fitzgerald I'm sure will catch at least 2 touchdowns. He is a wide receiver and was a top prospect coming out of college.

Sorry if anything I said was obvious; you said you were in the UK and I dont know how much exposure to American football you get over there and how much general knowledge people have. Hope this was helpful to ya.

Thanks

I'm actually pretty into football (soccer) but here in the States it's seen as a game that kids play and is also kind of seen as a girl's sport in higher levels. Still, popularity is growing, especially in Columbus with the Columbus Crew winning the MLS Cup and all, and teams like West Ham and Independiente coming to town and holding our own against them.

Glad I could help you with your question...American football tends to grow on people quickly so don't be surprised if it grows on you too!

Ok, the Steelers, who also happen to be my team as my sig pic shows, has the #1 defense in the NFL. Pretty much everyone on the defense can be a highlighted player, but the main ones to keep an eye out for would be Troy Polamalu (43), James Harrison (92) and LaMarr Woodley (56). The offense can be devastating if they're working well that day, but it mainly falls on the ability of the offensive line to properly protect the quarterback, Ben Roethlisberger (7). Key offensive players would be Hines Ward (86), Santonio Holmes (10) and Heath Miller (83).

The Cardinals.....meh, no one cares. 😀

No seriously, the Cards have a wicked passing game. Their quarterback Kurt Warner (13) has a triple threat of receivers to throw to: Steve Breaston (15), Anquan Boldin (81) and quite possibly the best wide receiver in the league, Larry Fitzgerald (11). They have an above average running game, but the Steelers are very stingy when it comes to the ground game, so don't expect too much from that. Arizona's defense was ranked 19th in the league during regular season, but have definitely stepped up during the playoffs.

Hope that helps.

.

The play of the Arizona wideouts is what I hope will make this game entertaining to watch. I don't think they are as talented a wide receiving trio as when Kurt Warner had Torry Holt, Az Akim and Issac Bruce in St Louis, when the Rams were called "The Greatest Show on Turf", but i've been following Larry Fitzgerald since college (ironically he played for the university of Pittsburg 😛) and that guy is the real deal....

If Warner is on his quick release game, and he gets the ball to his recievers, we might have a pretty good ball game. They gotta make plays in the secondary to make the Steelers think twice about blitzing.

I am an Eagles fan and an NFL addict though the league now is totally mediocre and full of frauds. You probably won't undertand that concept if you are new to American football but others know what I am saying. I think all of the teams in the playoffs this year are frauds and these are just the 2 that are left. I hate the Steelers and Ben the QB is and has been a TOTAL fraud. I don't care who wins but with the way this season has gone the Steelers ARE NOT a shoe in to win just because of their defense. I would not be surprised to see AZ win as the Cinderella...and if you look at past Superbowls crazy things happen and the favorites do not win many times. Just look at last year when those bogus Giants beat undefeated New England...and by the way I hate NE more than the Giants...lol.

I was trying to wrap my mind around your post and figure out what you constitute as a fraud. But then I re-read the first five words of your post and that explained it all. :roflmao:

And anyway, whatever your definition of fraud is would imply that you think your own team is a fraud. Granted, I feel Reid, Mornhinweg and McNabb have to go, but I don't think that neccesarily makes them frauds.

Yep, the Eagles were frauds this year in a league made of frauds. But one fraud to another the Eagles manhandled the Steelers duing the regular season. LOL
