Here, y'all... hey, general question...

How do you take still-frame from a movie file you might have on your computer, or take a sequence of video and make an avatar from it? Haven't figured that out, yet, though I'm not totally computer illiterate..

Hi Pinky27, there are two free programs that i usually use to make vidcaps. One is windows movie maker... if you have windows xp, then you have it on your computer now. The one thing about that program tho... it doesn't work on .rm files... for those i use a freeware program called "moviesnapshots", you can find it by going here and scrolling about halfway down the page(its a free download).I hope this has been of some help to you.

Hi there MayDay, i'm assuming that you're refering to animated gifs.First, you'll need some pics that you want to animate... you can get them by using the above software to take some vidcaps of consecutive frames from a clip... three or four will do but you can use more if you'd like. Next, you must convert them to gif format... there's all kinds of freeware programs you can use for that, one that i personally like is an image browser called "fastone image viewer". In it's tools menu you have an option to convert pics to different formats (eg: jpg to gif). Once you have the pics you're going to use, and have them converted to gif format... you'll need to animate them. Again, there are all kinds of freeware programs you can use for that... the one i like is called "unfreez". It's simple to use... you just drag and drop your gif pics into it then click on the "make animated gif" button. You can find the fastone image viewer here (it's second from the top)
The unfreez program can be found here (it's the last one listed at the bottom of the page).

While I'm bugging the crap out of you, how do you post clips on here? I tried posting the clip for our buddy up there but it's too large and I really don't want to split it up. As a consolation...

Another nice animated gif MayDay 😎 ... OK, if splitting the clip is out of the question, that leaves you two options you can use to post the clip. One: you can try to shrink it down so that it's small enough to post here directly(something i've done a fair bit)... or two: you can upload the clip to someplace like rapidshare and then post the link to it here. Although option one isn't really that hard to do... it would be a tad awkward to talk you through it here. If you happen to use yahoo IM, feel free to contact me on that( you can use my yahoo icon here on my post)... i'd be happy to talk you through it there. Otherwise... you may use either rapidshare or another webhost of your choice. I'll leave ya the link for rapidshare here
