The swinger community has opted certain symbols to identify each other in public. The most popular symbol is the simplified black swing surounded by a circle on a red background. The swing is very abstract to assure descretion and leave space for imagination. It is often redesigned or modified for pendants, bracelets or collars to create a more elegant or sophisticated look. So if you see people wearing a "swing" jewelry or tattoo, it's most certain that they are part of the swinging community. Of course you can find other less or more obvious swinging symbols and signs used by the community.

The color red attracts the most attention and is associated with strong emotions such as "love", "passion", "stimulation" "strenght" and "energy". Red is the color used universally to signify courage, strength and power. This represents well the strong bond in swinger couples. Red is stimulating, vibrant and exciting. Red inspires desire and action with a strong link to sexuality and increased appetites.

Black is the color of mystery. It covers, hides and implies that there are barriers and limits, just like the swinger lifestyle does. A strong and powerful color, black is formal and sophisticated, sexy and secretive. It is the color of things that may scare and make you hesitate. It is a colour that signifies power and control. It is considered intimidating, yet still refined, elegant and confident.

The swing obviously represents the concept itself of the "Swinger lifestyle". It is associated with the movement, the swaps and the physical and emotional shares within open relationships and like-minded people.

The circle represents the group of swinger people connected by the same lifestyle. It is associated by the strong bond within couples and the community.
