The Tatoo Thread! (+pics please)

Hellooo, guys and girls!
Well, I hear from almost everyone on here "I have blabla tatooed to my blabla"... Now I want to see it 🙂
I'll start. I've drawn mine myself and I won't tell you what it means cause no one knows, except of me, that is 😉 Here you go! And now it's your turn!

Ok, here are my tat pics (both on my bicept area), and their meanings.

The first one (left arm) is two Celtic knots (which I have always loved) and in between them, a pink triangle with the point down. The triangle is a gay pride symbol. When Hitler had his death camps during WW2, all the prisoners had a triangle on thier uniforms, in different colors, to show why they were arrested. Any gay men had the pink triangle on theirs.


The second tat (right arm) I got after I had success on my diet/exercise routine, and dropped some of the weight I wanted to. I got it to help me keep focused. The top symbol stands for "Pride", the middle for "Strength", and the bottom "To Endure".

Sadly, no tatoos here.T.T My g/f says I should get one, and I plan on getting it on my right arm. If it's not too much to ask, where did you get your tatoos, cell? I think both of them are pretty cool, and if I'm going to get one, I want it to be smexy. Once I find out where to get the tatoos, I'll edit this post, to show you guys.

One day, I'm gonna get a tattoo of a smiley face on my right bum cheek. It'll be awesome. I'll go up to a group of people, and they'll be showing off their tattoos of naked chicks, dragons, and motorcycles and stuff, and I'll just bend over, pull down my pants and let the cheeks smile in a big wiiiiiide grin.

OMG! Sailor Mars! Thats awesome obdub.....I only have pictures of two of mine, the third one I never got a shot of....

The first is on my left shoulder and the second is on my right forearm, it says "I will live, you will die" (leave me alone, I got it when I was drunk) I'll probably get it covered up. The third pic is what my third tattoo is of, in color on my right upper back (any surprise on that one? LOL) The fourth is what I'm getting next on my left upper back. I havent gotten the actual Cheshire Cat done yet because I can't find a decent enough shot that I like. I have a plan for a very large ornate Alice In Wonderland theme on my back with rose vines and incorporating various playing card symbols and the grinning Cheshire Cat head at the top middle just under the back of my neck........

tat 1-Chicago blackhawks jersey logo, its the chicago C with two tommahawks thru it
tat 2-NIU huskie dog head, logo of my school
tat-3-CFH, stands for cowboys from hell, name of a Pantera song, way of life and i got it in honor of dimebag

tat 4 is going to me a dragon(unsure if mideval or oriental on my left shoulder
tat 5 will be a heartagram on my chest\heart
tat 6 should be some design on my lower back\mid back area
and tat 7 may be the black flag logo on my neck, ala henry rollins

Haha ok since abdub said I should post my tattoo's here I quess I will =P

the first one is Japanese char. that says "Bushido" (hmmm that word sounds familer=P)

and the 2nd is my self designed tribal tattoo, and I made it to represent every person or thing in my life, ever point on it is someone or something that is very important to me.
And I love both of mine

Well TC I dont know about looking cool, but my Japanese char. I got because of my love of Japan's old cuture, and Bushido is a code of ethics. 2nd my tribal tattoo was a self design, it wanted a symbol that I made, and I wanted it to represent everyone or things that are important to me. If my tattoo's have offened you, then for that I am sorry, but I had them put on part of MY body that I could easily hide with a shirt, these are mine, I love them and the meaning behind them.

Ah the bastardization of ethnic symbols and rituals to look cool...

Tell me "Bushido," what tribe do you represent?

Bushido is translated from Japanese as "the way of the warrior" and is pretty much in laymens terms as the code of ethics\chivalry in Japan mainly applying to the samurai warrior class of Japan. Bushido, awesome work i have to say but a question, did you look up the symbols yourself or did you choose them from a wall, i only ask cuz some people get inked in oriental chars and then realize it doesnt say what they wanted. I was gonna get a character of the bushido code on my arm, the character "Gi", which closely mimics my attitude\thoughts in the world, instead i decided on the CFH on my arm for my personal feelins and in honor of dimebag

TG, Unless you can trace your lineage all the way back to the ancient celts of europe, arent you then guilty of the bastardization of ethnic symbols with your celtic symbol or doin any tattoo for the aesthetic value of looking "cool"

Considering my parents are from Ireland, and their parents parents, and so on and so on, I feel I do have lineage going all the way back to ancient celts. I don't have proof of course, but I am proud of heritage and so I think my tattoo is justified. I didn't get it to be different or follow the crowd, I got it for me. Just my opinion.

It just rubs me the wrong way when people get asian characters or "tribal" tattoos because it's like 'why tribal?' 'why chinese?' And most of the time the people can't answer WHY other than, it's cool, or I don't know.

Yet the true celtic origins are from middle europe, mainly western,central and northwestern so the celtic symbols are not only reserved to those of ireland or the welsh peoples. People get inked for their own reasons, many see the muscle men with the tribal or barbed wire and think "thats awesome, i should get that." Same goes with hairstyles or even what clothing you wear, people get what they feel fits them and its nobody's business or duty to go about berating them because you feel their decision of tattoo is stupid or ill-informed. People getting tattoo's just because no one else has gotten it is stupid, originality is overrated.

As for the asian love, its been common since the early 80's that the USA went thru a phase of embracing Japanese culture\society, similar to the same era when USA embraced african designs and mid 90s with australian.

So i couldnt get a gaelic\celtic symbol tattoo'd on my body because i have no direct lineage or foreseeable celtic blood in me? Because at a time i was debating getting a Gaelic J on my back which i found while perusing a copy of the Book of Kells, looked good, my first letter in my name is J, so why not

I did look it up becuase the tat ment alot to me because of some of the meanings from symbols. And TC I can see where you coming from, but I didnt just take these tattoo's lightly. I put alot of thought into them before I went and got them done, I must have re-designed my tribal style a dozen times, but I wanted something from my own mine, and I wanted a meaning behind it. This tattoo wasnt a "hey look at this picture of this tribal tattoo, it looks cool!" I made sure that it was the way I wanted it, it might be of a tribal designe but its more meaningful to me then a simple tribal tattoo, and I like you have a large Gaelic and Celtic ancestry, but I also have a very small Japanese ancestry from my mom's side. So it is meaningful in that way also. But I respect your opinion, and yes you have every right to it.

I'm not saying only Irish people can get Celtic tattoos. And I really don't care what people get tattooed for. I mean, yes, it will annoy me when people get meaningless tattoos, but that's my opinion of which I'm entitled. My personal belief is that if you're going to put something permanent on your body that you should know what it stands for and try to make it meaningful, but of course not everyone feels that way, and that's fine.

Fine that is your opinion and YOUR personal belief but gives you no right to outright attack someones choice in a tat as u did for bushido. If it annoys you, write about it on a piece of paper and throw it away. Who are you to say if a tat is meaningless or not, who is anyone other than that person.

What script of japanese is it in? I know there are several forms of the written language so im just curious. I had a friend who got a nice tribal tat a while ago, it was a tribal around his bicept which led to a sharp jagged heart on the side of his bicep, looked pretty cool and he begged people to make fun of it to his face for violent reasons...lol
