Okay, let's do this:

Wanderlei Silva vs. Quinton 'Rampage' Jackson

For those of you who don't know, this isn't Silva vs. Jackson. This is Silva vs. Jackson 3. These two went at it Pride twice already, neither of which ended well for Rampage. First round knockouts on both, if I recall.

The only difference in the UFC is that it's a cage and the pace is faster (5 min rounds instead of 10). Silva's faster, has a broader skill set and is up by two wins already. Unless Rampage has reinforced his jaw or can get it to the ground quickly, this should be over fast.

WANDERLEI SILVA by KO/TKO in the First Round.

Antonio 'Minotauro' Nogueira vs. Frank Mir

This will be the BJJ fight of the year, no question. Nobody at 265 has the BJJ skill that these two have.

That being said, Big Nog has better standup, better stamina, better durability and better BJJ. Mir will have size on his side, but that's about it. To say nothing of the fact that Big Nog pretty much can't be knocked out and can't be submitted. As well, Mir's not exactly known for his cardio or stamina. He'll be able to hold Big Nog off on the ground, but I doubt he'll pull through a win.

ANTONIO NOGUEIRA by Decision.

Forrest Griffin vs. Rashad Evans

I wanna start by saying that I don't think for a second that Griffin is the best in the world at 205. He's got above-average skill, but nothing spectacular. And he's got huge stamina and durability. Forrest Griffin is a punching bag that can bleed, which doesn't amount to much as a fighter.

Which is the only way he'll win this fight. Evans got gassed after two rounds with Michael Bisping. The longer the fight goes on, the better Griffin's chances are of winning. If he uses his height and reach to keep Evans away from him for 15 minutes, he should pull it off.

Evans has a huge advantage however. He's a better striker. He's a better wrestler. He's stronger. And he has one advantage that most people overlook. The last man to beat Griffin was Keith Jardine. Jardine trains with Evans. It doesn't sound like a lot, but training with someone who's already beaten someone counts for a whole bunch, almost to the point where Evans will feel like he's fought Griffin before. If Evans can use that knowledge, get inside on Griffin and do what he does best, Griffin's taking a nap.

RASHAD EVANS by KO/TKO in the first 3 rounds.

See you Saturday!

Rampage is a much better fighter than he was in PRIDE. Silva has not improved at all. Beating Jardine was expected. I say Rampage all the way.

The only chance MIR has is to get a doctor stopage which is highly unlikely. I say NOG.

Rashad is always being underestimated. How many people can say they KO'D Chuck Liddel? Evans will be the new LHW Champ.

The Pride rules were on Silva's advantage (ring, stomps allowed), while UFC rules are on Jackson's advantage. Jackson can avenge his 2 losses.

I don't see Griffin being the 1rst man to defeat Evans.

The 1rst round between Nog and Mir will be competitive. Then Mir will gas out and Nog will finish him.

Silva will KO rampage violently in the 1st

the 2 losses have to be in Rampages head....they were pretty brutal(even though early in the second fight he was winning)

some people thinkthat it was no big deal to beat Jardine and i sort of agree, but it was how he beat him....quick and violent.

Nog will sub Mir in prolly the 2nd or 3rd

Mir will gas and Nog will catch him. Frank has nothing that Nog can't do better.

Forrest will UD or sub Rashad late

Forrest will be 2-0 vs guys coming off KO victories over Chuck

i think Griffin is too big for Rashad and he won't allow him to close the distance. Forrest also won't be throwing telegraphed punches from the 3rd row. also, his game plan comes from Randy and he spars daily with Wand.

rashad will not win

Personally, I rather think Griffin will 0-2 versus Greg Jackson's students. Remember he lost against Jardine at UFC 66. And Griffin's chin looks suspect to me (got KO'd in the past by a smaller Jeremy Horn who fights now at 185 lbs).
No matter about size. Evans competed against HWs at TUF 2.

i don't know about a suspect chin

getting KO'd twice in 6 yrs ain't so bad

It's not a suspect chin, but he's vulnerable to a solid uppercut. That's how Rampage floored him. That's how Jardine ended him. Some people are just vulnerable to a certain type of strike. Liddell's the same way with an overhand right hook.

I'm not a western boxing expert, but where is an uppercut supposed to hit ? To the chin.
By the way, Horn finished Griffin by a high kick.

It's not just where it hits, but how. But that's a digression. We'll see for sure on Saturday.

I'm glad I don't put money on mma fights. All I can say is Mir by tko.....:sowrong:...WTF!

fucken nice mma fights!!

frank mir over minotaur, that was bullshit. Herb dean needs to be fired. Hes like the worst ref ever. Early stoppage bullshit.

All the fights were freakin awesome. Rampage was walking down the asile, he has a look like he was going crap himself. He came out on top with a knock out, great stuff.

fight to look forward too?
rampage vs rashad evans and brock lesnar vs frank mir..
amount of alcohol in my system taking over. Great ppv. Best 50 something bucks i ever spent. Good night mma fans. thank you dana white for that spectacular event.😛:doublethrust::doublethrust::abducted:

I actually won a bet! i bet on Mir to beat Nog. Nog was a huge favorite, so i went with the underdog Mir. :mwahaha:

I was surprised how Mir looked so relaxed, smiling at Nog. I don't think the stoppage was premature. Nog was dominated during the whole fight: he ate numerous blows and got knocked down twice in the 1rst round.

What I expect to see in 2009:

Pat Barry vs Anthony Hardonk (leg kicks contest, lol)

Nog vs Couture

Lesnar vs Mir II

Griffin vs Rampage II

Evans vs winner of Machida vs T. Silva

Kongo vs winner of Junior Dos Santos vs Stefan Struve

Yushin Okami vs Demian Maia
