One of the Moderators brought to my attention a post made by someone on this forum, saying that you only had to be 13 years old to join the United Kingdom Tickling Forum.
I want to very quickly and strongly disabuse anyone of this misconception. The UKTF has now, has always had and will probably always have a policy of members being at least 18 years of age.
I believe I know the reason for this rumour. The UKTF runs on PHP BB software, unlike this one, which uses V Bulletin. Hardwired into all PHP software is a disclaimer about the "13 years of age". The reason for this is that to join any forum, no matter what its main subject, you have to register an e-mail address and it is universally illegal to collect personal information like that from anyone who is younger than 13. It is therefore written into all forums that use PHP software that you have to be 13 or older.
The UKTF maintains a policy of members being at least 18 and I have personally removed someone I discovered to be only 17. This isn't a judgment on an individual's personality or level of maturity or a statement that 16 and 17 year olds are never developed enough to understand their alternate sexuality. It was just the legal equivalent of asbestos underpants. It is a minefield as it is to run a forum like this and fireproofing oneself against minors joining is the only way to stay around.
