I found myself with a dilemma........
.....only yesterday, I went for my lunch at my usual pub, having bought my usual paper (The Daily Telegraph) and started to read the front page and look at the dreadfull pictures. Then my lunch arrived, and I found I could not eat my lunch and read the paper at the same time. So I had a choice, throw my lunch away or throw the paper away. I simply could not deal with what i was seeing and reading.
Of course, it was much easier to throw the paper away and eat my lunch, and of course I felt guilty. I started to question how effective todays "instant" media realy is. What effect does it really have on those who read or see it?
I saw on the news the same day the utter carnage going on in Beslan, and watched a poor naked young girl running desparately to safety, she dodged past welcoming, helping hands, to reach the soldier who held out a bottle of water.
What kind of animals do things like this to children?
I still eat my lunch, and went back to work.
