....just been watching Fox news, I notice the appalling act of terrorism in Russia is way down the shedule.....so much for the "war on terror".....apparently the fact that the U.S. is having some weather is an enormous suprise, and we need not one, not two, but three dick head reporters standing in the rain telling us how wet the rain is.

lmfao!! thats the best thing ive heard about fox today..ive been spending my time watching american college football. feel bad for all you ppl that dont get to see those games...

the rain..its falling hard and its really wet..the wind..its blowing really fast..they need to just get outta there..we know its bad..i feel bad for all the ppl down there who are suffering through this catastrophe!

Red Indian, you have put your finger on the exact reason that I get my news from the internet instead of from watching TV.

If I want to spend only two minutes on the hurricane in Florida, and twenty minutes on the terrorist school hostage situation in Russia, that is what I can do. 😀

It's the same on the other networks - CNN and MSNBC aren't reporting on anything but the hurricane. Fox News is the only one of the three that's devoted any time to the news from Russia.

Uou've obviouly not been watching Fox for long.😀 This is precisely why I never watch TV news.😀

Not sure what you mean, HDS; I wasn't endorsing Fox News, just saying that when I checked the three networks, they were the only one mentioning Russia.
😀

Argh, I know Red. I had not been able to catch the news at all Friday evening into Saturday evening, and I desperately wanted to know where things currently stood in Russia. I turned on the 10 o'clock news last night to get updated, only to sit there disgusted as news on the hurricane was not only the top story, but the ONLY story they discussed for the first 10 minutes of the program. I was finally so frustrated I turned the tv off, and just logged on to cnn.com to find out what the hell was going on.

Don't get me wrong. The hurricane IS a big deal and is threatening lives and homes throughout Florida right now. But I honestly feel the death of 360+ people including nearly 200 innocent children in Russia at the hands of terrorists is a bigger story than predicting how much rain the coast will be getting in the next 5 minutes. Televised news media needs to get it's priorities in order.

I found myself with a dilemma........

.....only yesterday, I went for my lunch at my usual pub, having bought my usual paper (The Daily Telegraph) and started to read the front page and look at the dreadfull pictures. Then my lunch arrived, and I found I could not eat my lunch and read the paper at the same time. So I had a choice, throw my lunch away or throw the paper away. I simply could not deal with what i was seeing and reading.

Of course, it was much easier to throw the paper away and eat my lunch, and of course I felt guilty. I started to question how effective todays "instant" media realy is. What effect does it really have on those who read or see it?

I saw on the news the same day the utter carnage going on in Beslan, and watched a poor naked young girl running desparately to safety, she dodged past welcoming, helping hands, to reach the soldier who held out a bottle of water.

What kind of animals do things like this to children?

I still eat my lunch, and went back to work.
