.......while the rest of the world shuts down for the duration of the greatest sporting event on the planet, what do you septics get up to? I know you have a team in the finals, but to be fair most of you dont even know that do you?

Its hard to see you progressing past the first round against Italy and the Czech Republic.

So, what happens in the states when the world cup starts? does the whole thing pass you all by completely? or do any of you watch it? Does George Bush plan to invade the world cup and bring freedom and democracy to all those countries not taking part in the real "World Series"?

I am a huge fan of the World Cup, and will watch as many games as possible. A good friend of mine is traveling to Germany to view some of the games. I agree the U.S. will have a hard time advancing. They are in an extremely tough bracket. Brazil is still my choice.

Had a bad day, uh? 😀 😉

I pick Brasil. Should be easy for them, in fact. I still can't believe England hasn't won it since 66'... I'd give my left tit if they could pull it out this time around.

US will be VERY lucky to get out of the first round. I am glad to see the US progressing nicely in terms of Soccer, though. Player for player, this is probably the best squad the US has ever assembled.

Dempsey, Donovan, Johnson ect...

I would probably watch the World Cup, but I have a lot to do....like flossing, mowing the grass and rearranging the canned goods in the cabinet. Think I'll alphabatize them this time. Let me know when NFL pre-season starts.

Oh i can :happyfloa
The fact they were the host nation and also the minor fact that they are only host nation up to and after '66 to have played all there games at there home stadium(wembly) meant they had an advantage, plus the third goal was never over the line .

I guess the fact that i'm scottish and here nothing but how great the england team are and how they've already won the world cup in the newspapers and tv everyday does get a tad annoying. England have a good team this year best midfield in the world i'd say. But the press and most of there fans seem to think they have some divine right to win this competition, and that is why i will be supporting Englands opponents! 😛

I said it 4 years ago, i said it 8 years ago, I'll say it again in 4 years time, but this is definately England's year. 😛

I was to young 4 and 8 years ago to bet, but this year i've bet against it and i'll do the same again in 4 years 😀

I predict someone totally unexpected will win. Maybe Ghana?? Don't laugh. Read this post again in July, and you'll see that i'm right.

dude you forgot cleaning out the garage, claening the pool. walking the dog
cutting my hair, brushing my teeth ditto on the nfl

p.s. no hard feelings with the superbowl posts about the steelers

Don't worry boys, Maybe one day the NFL can have the popularity of the EPL. :jester:

Besides, we all know that if you made the nfl "football" players play rugby against the worlds best, they'd be running home, crying to thier mommies.

The body armour... :blaugh:

How about Albert Pujols?

Oh lordy!!!!!!!!!.........

.......we have a sweaty sock on the TMF, God spare us bitter, chippy jocks bleating about England being in the world cup. We are in, you are not, live with it!

Just kidding Cave, welcome aboard the good ship TMF. have just got back from a short concert tour in Chilly Jocko Land and very good it was too.

Good stuff Slacker!! thats what i like to see! I knew i could rely on you to give me some shit right back!

My view? I think now we are with out Roony, we have no better chance than many other top sides. Roony could have made the difference for us, but its not to be it seems.

Brazil are always going be there or therabouts, no genious football punditry needed for that assumption! the Germans.....well, they will probably do their usual trick of sliding almost unnoticed in to the final stages. Argentina, who knows? least of all the Argies themselves, might go all the way or get shafted without scoring in the first stage.

The Frogs? who cares?

Roony is the most over rated player in the game today, with or with out england only has 3 players and its hard for to me to say but they make up the worlds best mid-field.

'66 was a joke, I only recently saw highlights of the game and I just shake my head. Germany can't win it, maybe if Deisler was playing they would be up there but without him they got very little depth and be hoping for no injuries and the defence, well it will be full strength come opening match so I leave judgement then. South Americans generally struggle in Europe, which leaves with Italy to win it.

Sorry Gremio I got to disagree, rugby isn't as hard and tough as it looks. I can honestly say that ANY half decent DE, LB, DB, WR, TE and HB would make a killing in rugby and I will go further by saying again ANY strong or free safety would be a star on the wing or center.

Blimey Fritz!!!.....

....do me a favour!!! NFL players would shit their pants if asked to play without their mincing queen body armour......(see my many posts on the subject)....and how would they cope with having to think about more than one thing at the same time? kicking, tackling, attack, "defense", catching, throwing, scrummage, lineout, ruck, maul.

Christ almighty!! how big would an American RFU side have to be to cope with that lot.

That I would love to see, the wooden planks finest in a scrum with the Yeomen of England.

"hey ref!!! that nasty guy Sheridan smudged my mascara, I want a time out for a makeover!"

Sorry forgive me I forgot kicking is up there with brain surgery in complexity and tackling well some players have multi million deal to do just that. Attack, yeah I suppose, what good would a 6'0 200 pound athlete running the 40 in 4.3 be good for. Ray Lewis would make more then a few rugby players take notice running his way and for catching; every position in NFL you need to catch; again any NFL safety would succeed in all of the above.

Throwing; a coaching session would take care of that. Rucks, Mauls have you heard of the line of scrimmage in NFL? Line outs, your taking an element of a game which is unique to it and has nothing to do with any aspect of NFL. Again like throwing it could be taught in a coaching session.

Mmmm..........

....you have me very confused now Fritz. The NFL games i have seen have one team just for defense, one just for offence, a field goal unit who do nothing other than kick field goals, a set of meat heads in the middle of the park who just bash in to each other and never see or touch the ball, a guy who does nothing apart from chuck the ball from the back of the park, another guy who does nothing apart from try to catch it.

Every player in RFU is expected to do ALL those things, and chew gum at the same time, and not mince off the field of play every five minutes to let yet ANOTHER "specialist" on to do his one little trick.

The funniest thing in NFL is when one team starts to get hammered by the other side, they can just stop the game and have a rest!!

What a load of bollocks!!!

Talking about field goal units.........isn't that how england won the rugby world cup??? I am pretty sure it was, his name was jonny wilkinson or some shit like that. He didn't or can't run, tackle, pass, catch, line out, scrums, just kicks, sounds like a field goal unit to me . You got to remember I live in Sydney and know these things.

What I am saying you take any defensive back (SS FS CB LB) in the NFL and they can do what you listed before.
