Mike Lozansky, professionally known under his real name as well as the ring name Mike Anthony and the masked persona Tigre Canadiense, passed away on 12/19.

Under his Tigre Canadiense persona, Lozansky was a regular for EMLL and was also the connection for Chris Jericho to head to Mexico for the first time. Lozansky feuded with Villano IV in 1991, losing his mask to him He had continued to work regularly in Mexico as recently as 2001 in the Monterrey territory.

In Japan, Lozansky had worked tours for All Japan Pro Wrestling as well as the now-defunct Tokyo Pro promotion. He had worked in Europe for a number of companies including Otto Wanz's now-defunct CWA promotion. Lozansky was the final W*ING International New Generation World Junior Heavyweight champion, defeating Jimmy Backlund in April 1993 at an independent event in Florida, holding the belt until the promotion closed in March 1994.

Although he never caught on nationally with WWE or WCW, Lozansky worked a number of different independents in the Michigan and Chicago area. Anthony held the USWA Tag Team championships twice in 1993, once with Jeff Gaylord and once with Moondog Spike. He also held the IWA Puerto Rico Junior Heavyweight championship in 1994.

Within the United States, Lozansky might be best remembered for his brief stint in Extreme Championship Wrestling under his real name, working undercard matches in late 1998. His highest profile bout was against Mikey Whipwreck at A Matter of Respect '98 at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia. He also challenged Van Dam for the ECW World Television championship during that timeframe.

Lozansky was 35 years old. His funeral is scheduled for this Tuesday.

:disgust:

Time will not weary them,
Nor the years condemn,
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.

ALL of them.

Weird.

I saw the title of the thread and though...."another dead wrestler".

Then I actually read the thread. What a year. What a sport.

Not me...

I never followed the steroid-easy-path, but did suffer a heart attack in 2001....

But NOPE, people, I will be around for a LONG time, tickling and...

:shake:

Being tickled....

😛

Peanut butter and Laz sandwich.

(Don't ask me; I'm still shaken up about the thought of Meems tickling me...😛)
