Yeah, it looks like they really tickled her and it lasts for a decent while.

I just watched the scene and her shoes stayed on the entire time. Maybe you got that scene confused with the one that theatergoer posted?

The context is the family torturing the daughter with tickling for political information. Not my cup of tea....

All these old written plays with more "brutal" tickle torture tend to be staged more lightly, with very clear fakeness, and usually no real bondage. Another example is "west wagon wheels", which has a very long scene and they make it very fake (sadly, is often played by very young students, but I've already found versions done by adults. the actresses even pretend to be tied in the chair, like fighting invisible ropes while tickled with shoes on). The directors obviously will adapt lightly what is on the script in these cases. I do have this crave for mainstream material, but I understand why they're "disapponting", since they're intentionally not graphic and acted silly. Less and less I expect an incredible scene in mainstream western media.
