I've skimmed the personal ads here from time to time. I don't do it often because with all due respect to those members who do post, I find them mighty depressing. It mostly seems to be males engaged in a futile search for females, who it seems to this observer studiously avoid our personals and all others'.
My semi-educated guess is that in personal ad culture, here or elsewhere, there exist certain assumptions. I.E., men who place personal ads can't meet women in the usual way because of serious character defects, bad looks, etc. It's also assumed that men who post in personals columns only want one thing which isn't necessarily related to tickling.
Unfortunately I have no ideas of my own about how to make the system work better at bringing people together for good, clean G, PG-13 or even NC-17 rated fun. (I will make one suggestion. There ought to be a separate category for ads from "professionals" like the one I just saw in our personals column today). Has anyone else here got any ideas? I understand that Nerve Personals dodged a lot of the typical negative issues surrounding meeting via personal ads by taking a radically innovative approach (basically, they aggressively worked to clean out the negative vibes and assumptions), at least until their birdbrain owners sold their operation out to (eeeyyewwww!) Adultfriendfinder.com.
