Actually I'm just a big fan of snopes.com and I read it virtually every day for updates. The Phyliss Diller one struck me because I just read an article on her in Entertainment Weekly. Then I started wonder about some of the others.

There are more legends in the list but I hate to ruin everyone's fun!

That "old English law" was only got rid of about four years ago, funnily enough.
