When I get old, fuck the nursing home. Here is a better option. I am doing a cruise, and here is why

The average cost for a nursing home is $200 per day. I have checked on reservations at Princess and I can get a long term discount and senior discount price of $135 per day. That leaves $65 a day for:

> 1. Gratuities which will only be $10 per day.

> 2. I will have as many as 10 meals a day if I can waddle to the
> restaurant, or I can have room service ( which means I can have
> breakfast in bed every day of the week).

> 3. Princess has as many as three swimming pools, a workout room,
> free washers and dryers, and shows every night.

> 4. They have free toothpaste and razors, and free soap and shampoo.

> 5. They will even treat you like a customer, not a patient. An
> extra $5 worth of tips will have the entire staff scrambling to help you.

> 6. I will get to meet new people every 7or 14 days.

> 7. T.V. broken? Light bulb need changing? Need to have the mattress replaced? No Problem! They will fix everything and apologize for your inconvenience.

> 8. Clean sheets and towels every day, and you don't even have to ask for them.

> 9. If you fall in the nursing home and break a hip you are on
> Medicare. If you fall and break a hip on the Princess ship they will upgrade you to a suite for the rest of your life.

> Now hold on for the best! Do you want to see South America, the Panama Canal, Tahiti, Australia, New Zealand, Asia, or name where you want to go? Princess will have a ship ready to go. So don't look for me in a nursing home, just call shore to ship.

> P.S. And don't forget, when you die, they just dump you over the side at no charge.

OK gang, what would you do?

LOL Very amusing. 😛
The cruise sounds much better than a nursing home to me. 😀

i already like cruising, so count me in!

(how much to have someone help you with your walker, to chase the twenty year olds around the Lido Deck?)

Shit, I forgot to add that into my cost factor. With all considered, it's still a bargin to me 🙂

A very interesting way to spend one's last days, giant! LOL! For me, I'd have to be on Dramamine for years, as I get seasick easily. Other than that, why not spend your last days on a luxury cruise? LOL! Honestly, though, I hope I have a loving wife, grown children and grandchildren to spend it with, as I know my grandparents were comforted by such at the end of their lives, and they admitted that it made their last days much easier by having loving concerned family members around.

Sounds like a great idea...BUT...you forgot to mention in what shape your health is, and that usually is the biggest expense of all...health care and medicine. I know the cruise would not include that...LOL...sorry if I am being to realistic 🙂

peace out,
daddy

Yes. But, I know of a number of aides who'd gladly offer their services free of charge for a chance to travel like that. Hell, they could set up a rotation so they only work a cruise or two at a time and get to go on the ones they like. 😉

I've heard the same thing said about Holiday Inn versus a Nursing Home...

:::bursts into song:::

The LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVE Boat......... soon we'll be making another run.....

Golden Years

Gee, & here I've got the refrigerator box Insulated & my underpass all picked out...If I'd Only Known.
BUG🙁

When the information is presented like that it really seems like a no brainer. There are a few glitches that were intelligently pointed out, however, the resourceful group we have here seemed to come up with answers promptly.

One example is Daddys practical assessment of your health condition. Well, I would like to meet the aides that Ann knows so we can arrange a package where they can have a cruise if there are ever any health issues. I've also been told that I have a heart of an 18 year old, so I look at it like this. When I reach retirement age at 65 (I am 41 now), my heart will be of a 42 year old, so, as they say, I am young at heart.🙂

Tommy, I know what you mean about the holiday Inn, but one thing the cruise offers that the Holiday Inn doesn't-visiting differnt places around the world. You can't beat that.

I think based on the responses, it's unanimous, a cruise over a nursing home any day.

Keep em coming!

I know that i have thought about my future, i got my baby girl and my fiancee to think about.

i think i'd rather have a beach somewhere...alone,secluded...sounds good to me...either that or a house on the coast overlooking the ocean or some form of water (could be east, could be west...could be Irish...never know where i'll land)
