Back around 1978 there was this great tv commercial for "Tickle Antipersperant". It showed a black lady laughing while lying on the grass (camera above) and then a blonde giggling at a table.

Does anyone have a copy of this much treasured commercial?

I'm afraid I don't have a copy of the commercial you seek, but I do remember the deoderant. I also remember ALWAYS making a point to go down the hygiene aisle when the family went shopping! LOL

Man, do I remember how a 17 year old boy with a libido working overtime used to react to those commercials! And, that girl lying in the grass was simply mind blowing...

There were a bunch of those commercials.

I never saw the one with the Black American

(Grrrr,,, okay, 25 years ago, I'll get over it)

NOW,,,

Whom among us has the brash obnoxious character needed to contact the company and ask for copies ?

Hmmm,,, perhaps we could say that we're doing a study of commercials from the 1970s,,, there were some really ridiculous ones.

Anybody remember Slim Whitman ? The Party Ring ? Slim Jeans ?

Whatever, whatever; get those commercials and you will be quite popular

Are they still in business? If so, direct the way and I will be happy to write to them.

Apparently the Media Resources Center at UC Berkeley has a Tickle commercial in their archives, but it's not available online.

This outfit sells tape compilations of old commercials, and one of them has a Tickle ad on it: http://members.tripod.com/~warp78/commercials3.html (scroll down to the bottom).

As for who made it, I've found some suggestions that it was produced by Bonne Bell, but no definite confirmation.

And while it's not the same: http://www.classroomtools.com/subad2b.jpg

(snickers)

Hmmm, Shem,

I see that the tickle commercial is situated right between the...

4-Way Nasal Spray (animated),

and

Canada Dry,

$20 sounds steep for just one of the tickle commercials.

I'm telling'ya, there were lots of them

"don't remember hearing about this"...

I don't know if this product ever made it to Blighty, Chris...it wasn't around here all that long...

I have a sneaky feeling telling me that the gorgeous girl lying in the grass probably had someone off camera running his/her fingertips up and down her soles...

how come i never get to see these awesome commercials, all i get to see are the dancing bears for Pepsi

In all fairness, some of the girls were pathetic fakers, while others were very good gigglers; so good, in fact, that I agree that they quite possibly had some off-camera assistance.

If you're talking about the one lying on the grass, was that the dark-haired, but fair-skinned, woman, I think she was in an orange or peach colored blouse, with her hands behind her head, giggling rapidly while staring into the camera.

The person who gets that and turns it into an MPEG for us will win the popularity award in next year's golden feather votes.

NjJen,

I think it's a Bristol-Meyers-Squibb product.

Don't put full faith and credit in my research, that's just what I came across from some keyboard and search engine time

As far as the ad agencies who made the stuff, or where the tapes went; we love you girl; we're counting on'ya !

I wonder; if those ads were aired today, what would the public reaction be ?

I'm just pondering the political climate of today and wonder how the general public would respond; as opposed to back then, when the entire campaign was essentially ignored.
