I take your points about framing the fetish, but for me it's rather different. A lot of people in my life are aware that I'm into BDSM, but almost no one knows about tickling. I'm much more cagey about it, and would be horrified if it were to become common knowledge. It's my own narcissism attacking me.
Why is that?? That's fascinating to me for a number of reasons. It seems to me tickling is relatively tame and harmless compared to hard core BDSM so why the bashfulness with tickling but not BDSM? It seems similar to the often repeated observation that people on the forum, esp. 'lees, are exceptionally shy about revealing their identities. And also the fact that the tickling fetish isn't taken seriously by most of the BDSM community--the last time I checked ALT.com they have a search category for every imaginable fetish under the sun...except for tickling. wtf?
Are these all related? what is it about tickling that's so embarrassing when other fetishes aren't?? I really don't understand this.
