I am an extremely shy person. I was raised to not speak until you are spoken to, and worse, laughter was frowned upon. Whenever I giggled when I was a child, I was told that I had a stupid laugh. To this day I barely laugh in front of anyone for fear of being ridiculed, and I always cover my mouth. My husband says I have a beautiful laugh, and he loved to tickle me to get that laugh out. I enjoy being a lee because of the adreneline rush, and the fact that I will actually be expected to laugh!
I love to hear other people laugh though. My husband has a great laugh. It is one of those laughs that makes you laugh too. I enjoy making other people giggle, even if I have problems doing it myself. When I am a ler, that is really the only time my shy side takes a rest and I can be dominant and powerful.
When dealing with the parents of the world, I try to tell people to say, "Please lower your voice," or "Now is not an appropriate time, but when XYZ event is over, we can tell jokes and all laugh together." Also, I always tell people never, ever, neverever tell a child that his/her laugh sounds silly. It may seem like an inncent comment to you, but it could be devestating to them. Also, the laughter of children is precious, and when they are grown up, the laughter should stay with them. Telling a child that laughing is bad and not acceptable has lifelong consequences. I *know* that none of you guys and gals here would ever do this. I am just using this as a general example of "people."
