Tickling in the theater

Last week I saw 4 plays at a theater conference and 2 of them included playful tickling. It made me wonder how someone who is really ticklish could prepare for that, knowing ahead of time that it was coming and not wanting to break character. And what if their partner in the scene was not really trustworthy. I saw Godspell years ago and was sitting very close when Jesus got washed and it was clear they were using icy cold water on his sides. I don't know how anyone could keep singing/talking under circumstances like that!

If it's part of the script, then it's expected and therefore not such a surprise. The actress mentally prepares herself for it and remains in character if she's a professional.

A play of mine a few years ago called for me to get slapped multiple times in one scene. The woman opposite me was a lousy stage-slapper, and would often just bop me nice and hard in the face. Just had to prepare myself for it and move on.

Although luckily, since it was SUPPOSED to look like it hurt, it was easier for me to react appropriately than it would be to ignore icy cold water.

Can't relate to this post, however, I have done tickling in the MOVIE theater......the darkness makes it conducive to public tickling, and always a little rush with the possibility of being caught and trying not to draw attention to yourself in a public place.
