I used to be an avid poker player when I was younger. One of the things that I was good at is figuring out my opponents "tell".
For those who don't know, a "tell" is an unconscious sign that gives away someone's thoughts on the cards they are holding.
My question is, does anyone have what they feel is a tickle tell?
Maybe it is when you hear the word, maybe when you witness a tickle.
Do you get wide eyed, maybe sweat a little, or try too hard to pretend not to notice so that it's obvious. Lol
I know what mine is, 🤦🏻‍♂️ and I'm curious about others.

I'm not sure exactly all that I do when this happens, as I tend to involuntarily block out a lot of the details of those memories, but I do try to change the subject quickly or sometimes just get really quiet. I don't feel like I'm especially consistent, and just start behaving awkwardly. I've gotten better with this over time, but it depends on the context. Like, if someone just says the word, my reaction may go unnoticed these days. But if a group starts talking about the subject of it for several seconds, or worse, several minutes, I can feel myself start sweating, feeling like the room is closing in on me, and an anxious voice in my head keeps saying on repeat, "we've gotta get out of here!" I don't know what I look like in those moments, but it can't be good lol

As with poker, I am aware of my "tickle tells" and try to act accordingly. I also try to pick up the potential tells in others just as in poker. Nice topic with a great link between the two.

I also wonder what I look like. While you're trying hard not to make your interest obvious, do others see you "not noticing" lol. 😬🤦🏻‍♂️

Yes!
One of my tricks now is while pretending not to notice, use the same methods I used in poker to figure out others. Are they smiling, frowning, or looking horrified.
Or do they all of a sudden have a particular interest in their shoes, or that spot on the wall, as they feign disinterest.

I guess I do the opposite. I don't normally bring up the topic, but if it comes up naturally, I attempt to keep the conversation going without being weird about it. I happen to have a friend who is exceptionally ticklish, and so when her husband tickles her over a minor dispute, I tend to encourage him with things like "wow, you got her good this time."

Yeah, I think they do, but more in a subconscious kind of way. Like, I think they realize at some level that I'm behaving strangely all of a sudden, but I don't get the impression that they at all attribute it to the subject matter. Which makes sense I guess. Most non-ticklephiles would probably struggle to make that type of connection. Perhaps the worst leap they might make is that I'm being weird because I'm ticklish and I don't want them to know, but even that happens only very rarely. Most of the sense of risk and anxiety is in my head, but it's amazing how it affects me.

I believe in much the same.
Are my efforts to not act too interested even necessary? It's not as if tickling is a rare unexplained phenomenon.
Though maybe not into it as a fetish, I believe it is much more utilised in play and as punishment than maybe we think.

Nothing wrong with a bit of encouragement to get the desired result of maybe more tickling. 😉😈

I don't think I do, but I definitely feel something whenever it gets brought up. But my overall demeanor makes it easier for me to hide my emotions, so I don't really worry or think too much of it when it comes up in conversation. Honestly not sure it ever will, just realized I don't even really talk about tickling with my gf lol we just engage in it

I never thought about it this way, but when I hear the word being casually used by others (even when it is not while talking with me), I tend to get very flustered. Like if a could of toddlers are doing it to each other and some adult gets involved in the act by mentioning the 'tickle' word, I get very flushed.

And when I actually witness tickling happening, say some guy/girl is tickling another girl, I end up getting the giggles too as I watch (again, with red cheeks).

Interesting that you giggle along with them. That's one I've never heard before. 🧐
Oh, and welcome to the forums. 😊

I can relate to this, if I see someone tickling someone else in public I can’t help but try to sneak a peek even if I’m embarrassed to do so 🫣
