Tickling theme park characters?

I just had a thought. I don't think i would have the guts to try this, but what do you think would happen if while taking a picture with say, Mary Poppins, or one of the silent characters like Minnie Mouse if you had your arm around them and to "make them make a funny face" for the pic, you give them a playful, 1 second tickle to the sides just as the pic is taken...something like that. What would happen? Would they roll with it? Tell you politely in character that is not appropriate? Get security on you? Just a thought

Having been in on discussions among costumed cast members at various theme parks, I can tell you two things for certain.

One, the bulkier costumes are literally impossible to feel anything in, and in a lot of cases you can't even see very well. It's why the cast member has a handler with them at all times.

Two, all costumed cast members, from Goofy to Cinderella, are magnets for all sorts of unwanted physical contact. People push them, smack them around, grope them, etc. So in general they are VERY conscious about people doing anything but giving them a hug. Especially the ladies.

If I had to guess, I'd say that if it were a quick one-shot thing as a picture was taken, they wouldn't have you thrown out of the park, but they definitely wouldn't like it and you'd be added to their list of "creepy/abusive things that guests did to me today" with all due speed.

But hey, I know most folks here don't care about anything other than immediate and concrete consequences so who cares if you pissed her off, right?

This was my first thought. The poor people have a crappy job anyways with having to touch all kinds of strangers, and then there's people who think about how to sneak in more unwanted contact.....great.

There are definitely characters at disneyland I'd love to tickle... especially Jasmine... however, I don't think I'd have the guts to do such a thing, plus I'd like to think I have more self control than that... I'm not someone who goes around randomly tickling people... plus I'd hate to creep them out or get them made... or worse find out they're really ticklish and then enjoy it and lose control and keep tickling them and getting thrown out and asked never to return... But it's a fun thought and if anyone does it feel free to share, I guess...

The odds of that actually happening are pretty much nil. Regardless of how a cast member feels about a particular interaction with guests, Disney keeps their people on such a short leash in terms of appropriate interactions that there's no way they wouldn't be risking their job by playing around with you like that in public.

FWIW, though, most of the short characters are played by women, because there are strict height requirements involved for all costumed characters. The odds of someone like Minnie Mouse being played by an obese middle-aged man are pretty low.

I wouldn't do that, personally. I wouldn't want a random person tickling me, even despite the fact that I love it. I guess it depends on your perspective, but I feel that tickling is like kissing or cuddling. It should be done with someone you're comfortable with, who you know enjoys it (at least in some way).

I don't know about you, but I know plenty of men who are as tall as or shorter than me, and I am only 5'5". I'd think to wear those bulky costumes you might need a certain strength to carry them around for a while.

I'm relating what I was told by an actual cast member. At the park she worked at (Orlando, I think), most of the short characters were played by women because there were few male applicants who met the height requirements for those characters. And yes, the costumes are heavy and uncomfortable. It really is a difficult job, and nobody here should go around poking at them just to have a fap story to "share".

When I used to work at Disneyland many years ago I witnessed a little kid tickling the bottom part of the fin of the little mermaid. It was only for a couple seconds but the laugh looked real. The fin isn't thick and bulky like other costumed characters. That was the only character tickling I witnessed.

I remember Gary Busey tickling people in an amusement park on The Celebrity Apprentice, and I remember being grossed out! So ewwww... NO! On the other hand, if I thought you were hot.... just kidding. It would be a bad idea. You'd be so banned!
