Tickling to cure migraines

I discovered something last night that I thought I'd share with fellow lees. While I was with my boyfriend last night I had a migraine that was just getting worse and worse. My boyfriend made it dark in the room and and I was lying down trying to relax. I had taken Aleve a number of hours earlier, but it unfortunately did nothing. At this point, I believe I've built up a bit of a tolerance to most over the counter medications due to fairly frequent migraines that are still undiagnosed.

Anyway, as I was lying down, my boyfriend came over to me and started pinching at my hips. This is one of my worst spots, so of course it set me off into a ticklish frenzy. Usually, with a migraine, I just want to be left alone. But for some reason the tickling wasn't bothering me. He continued to tickle me all over and, as I was going insane with laughter, I realized my head was feeling suddenly a lot better. He took a momentary break from the torture (torture I love for the record) and I started to feel the migraine just a little bit. I explained to him that the tickling seemed to actually be helping, and of course he took that as the invitation it was and continued the assault holding my arm above my head and attacking my side. By the end of it I felt soooo much better.

Do I know for sure that tickling would help with all migraines? No. But I'll consider it to be in it's clinical trials phase. If any of my fellow lees are also migraine sufferers, I suggest giving it a go and letting me know the result. Might be onto something here!

I don't suffer from migraines, but I frequently get headaches due to overexposure to screens or my shunt bothering me (a tube and pump in my head that drains the stuff my brain floats in--in high pressure weather, it slows down causing headaches). When that happens Senshi sometimes tickles me, and it always helps, though afterwards it often comes back to a degree.

I suspect it's partially about endorphins, as someone above suggested, and partially about making me relax and untense some muscles!

I suspected it had something to do with the release of endorphins. I always feel really good after a good tickle. Laughter is the best medicine after all!

I usually tend to get a headache if I'm tickled too much to hard laughter. I suppose it varies differently for people.

Yeah, I imagine that too much of a good thing isn't necessary good.

Well yes, too much of anything can be bad for you. I mean take medication for example, it deals with the symptom of the problem. But when you take more than what's recommended then you're left with a problem. The same with when I laugh too much there are times I could choke and then eventually have an asthma attack as well (hence why there's always use of a safeword).

That's an awesome story. I've had serious sinus headaches since childhood, I wonder if tickling would help that as well! :tickling:

I get migraines every so often.

Being single sucks cuz I would love to try this next time I got one.
