Tickling to help control pain?

Hi. I am interested on information and advice on if tickling can be used to help control pain. I suffer from a chronic pain syndrome called fibromyalgia. My symptoms had basically been in remission for the last couple of years, however over the last several month they have come back and are out of control and interfering in my life. I am under the care of a doctor and on medication which is not longer preventing the pain. I am allergic to many narcotics and do not want to live my life in a daze. I have an appointment at a pain clinic that is still months away. I am trying to pursue as many alternatives as possible to help me cope. I know that laughter can produce endorphins and endorphins can reduce pain and stress. Has anyone ever had any experience using tickling and the laughter it cause to release endorphins and therefore help with stress relief and pain control?

I haven't been tickled in years, but did not find it an unpleasant experience when I use to have tickle fights with exes and such. So the next question is where could I find someone who actually knows how to tickle and do it lightly so that the touch wouldn't hurt? I am a married woman, but my husband tickling me is not an option. It is not the kind of thing I would feel comfortable with friends doing so I am looking for advice. Thanks in advance.

Why? Who if not him should be interested in easing your pain?

Our physical relationship is basically non-existant at this point. Even before, when we had a physical relationship, he was never able to tickle me. Just doesn't have the right touch I guess.

You're not comfortable with your friends or husband doing it to you? Those are people you should trust way more than a stranger. All you're going to find on this site is people who are aroused by tickling, not therapists... Good luck for whatever it is you're looking for!

Ohh okay. Well, I know nothing about fibromyalgia or if tickling would help it - I did do a random search on "fibromyalgia tickling help" to see if anyone had ever said something about tickling easing the pain. I didn't see anything to that effect, but I did come across a forum-type post about a woman who said that since having FM, she's no longer ticklish, and other people noticed the same thing with their FM. It's interesting. http://www.mdjunction.com/forums/fibromyalgia-discussions/lounge/195918-ticklish

It's something I would definitely ask a doctor about, maybe whoever you go to for pain help could recommend a therapist who would do light tickling on request? I really don't know.

I highly doubt that. Personally, I believe the idea to be pretty adventurous. If it's the laughter you're looking for, you might want to try for something more easy first. Like watching a funny movie.

Years ago, I had a friend with this condition; interestingly, she suggested that I tickle her feet to "take her mind off" the pain (not as pain relief, per se). We did this a couple of times before I moved to a different city, and I guess it worked. She giggled for a while, then fell fast asleep. I think she just enjoyed having her feet touched (she was a lovely young woman with equally lovely feet).

By the way, she had no idea I had a fetish. We were just good friends.

To the original poster: I know your condition is no fun, and I wish you the best. I really do believe laughter is the best medicine.

I have a myopathy and deal with pain all the time I love tickling it helps so much with pain relief if fine right. That is why I like gathering cause since I don't have partner that is usually the only time I can get tickled being a Lee. I don't know about FM or other problems that cause pain but it helps me. Later hugsss

I knew one woman here on the TMF in the mid- 2000s who had fibro and she had to stop travelling, and stop being tickled, because of it.

I know another woman on here who has fibro and tickling seems to have no effect, good or bad, on her condition. So I think whatever tickling offers as an effect would be very unique to each individual.
