Hi. I am interested on information and advice on if tickling can be used to help control pain. I suffer from a chronic pain syndrome called fibromyalgia. My symptoms had basically been in remission for the last couple of years, however over the last several month they have come back and are out of control and interfering in my life. I am under the care of a doctor and on medication which is not longer preventing the pain. I am allergic to many narcotics and do not want to live my life in a daze. I have an appointment at a pain clinic that is still months away. I am trying to pursue as many alternatives as possible to help me cope. I know that laughter can produce endorphins and endorphins can reduce pain and stress. Has anyone ever had any experience using tickling and the laughter it cause to release endorphins and therefore help with stress relief and pain control?
I haven't been tickled in years, but did not find it an unpleasant experience when I use to have tickle fights with exes and such. So the next question is where could I find someone who actually knows how to tickle and do it lightly so that the touch wouldn't hurt? I am a married woman, but my husband tickling me is not an option. It is not the kind of thing I would feel comfortable with friends doing so I am looking for advice. Thanks in advance.
