OK, we've all been told that tickling is a paraphilia or a fetish or whatever, and maybe it is the way we take it to extremes, but it's my contention that m/f tickling is a normal and socially acceptable part of the m/f relationship.

For starters, I'm forced to take a look at my own life. I'm not what I'd call a stud, just a normal guy, but over the course of my life I've tickled literally hundreds of women (at one point I secretly kept a list) and they were all relatively cool about it. And I don't mean desperate chicks either. I mean perfectly normal girls. Quite a few of them were more than willing accomplices, purposely allowing me to come up to their dorm rooms or whatever, knowing full well that I was going to tickle them upon arrival.

I remember calling one girl at like 4 AM to see if I could come over and she said, "No, you're gonna tickle my feet...which I don't mind...but I'm sleepy." After we talked for a little while on the phone though, she said come on over. I remember telling another girl point blank, if we're gonna be hanging out I'm gonna be tickling you from time to time, and she said, "That's cool. Being tickled is fun."

An isolated case? Maybe. But this success gave me confidence and I employed the same line successfully on three other girls. None ever said, "Ew, you creep!" Or anything like that.

I also made a bet with a girl over the results of a ping pong match that ended with me winning and getting to tickle her for five minutes uninterrupted. Not only did she go along with it, but she drove us out to an isolated spot as I requested giggling, "I can't believe I'm doing this!" along the way.

I wasn't in a relationship with all of these women either, so it's not like they were indulging me because I was their boyfriend or something. I was just some guy they were friends with. And I can't believe that all of these women were also tickle fetishists. They just accepted the fact that the guys always tickle the girls.

And think about all the married couples you grew up watching as a kid. Wasn't the husband always tickling the wife? I remember in the 7th grade there was a female friend I always used to tickle and one time one of her friends remarked to a third girl, "Aren't they just like a married couple? She's always saying something smart to him and he's always tickling her for it." The other girl laughed and nodded and they both said that's how their dads and moms interracted. The same was true in my own experience, and I think I've lived a fairly normal life.

And look at all the mainstream ads posted on this very forum that show a husband playfully tickling his wife's feet on a couch or a boyfriend tickling his girlfriend after she's thrown all his stuff out the window (wish I could find that commerical again - it was for jeans, I think). Ads want to appeal to middle of the road joes and janes, not fringey weirdos, so husbands/boyfriends tickling wives/girlfriends must be pretty "normal" in the eyes of Madison Avenue. The same can be said for sitcoms, and even unscripted live TV, like when that guy tickled the hell out of Meghan Mullaly on her show, and she cuddled with him afterwords, having clearly enjoyed it. Other examples are these photos of guys tickling female celebs at red carpet type events.

Lastly, I direct your attention to women's fashion: bare midriffs, sleeveless shirts, open shoes, the fact that girls going barefoot in public seems to be more socially acceptable...this is pretty much a flirty invitation if you're a guy they like and not some toady stalker. Heck, they even shave their underarms and make sure they're feet are pedicured to make it easier and more attractive for us. I remember tickling this one girl in my science group who had on those kind of shoes that cover most of the foot but expose the arch. She laughed and said she always got tickled by guys when she wore those shoes. The other girl in our group (there were four of us, two guys and two girls) said, "Why?" The first girl put her foot up on her own knee and explained, "When people see this part of your foot (touching her own arch) they want to tickle you." I tickled her there again and she said, "See?" to the other girl and laughed as if her point had been proven.

I've got a million stories like this. Remember the girls in gym class saying, "I am SOOOOO TICKLISH!" to their friends and giggling and then looking sideways at you to see if you were gonna take them up on it?

I realize that this is a fetish or a paraphilia or however you want to classify it for those of us on these boards because we are more interested in it than most, but I truly believe, based on my experiences in life, that the phenomenon itself is part of normal m/f relationships in society.

A very intresting thread that raises lots of issues.I need to digest it before i post a real responce.

They just accepted the fact that the guys always tickle the girls
.

I've always observed this; I've known very few red-blooded american males, or males of any other nationality for that matter, who didn't tickle girls all the time, just because it was a fun thing to do. And so long as they didn't abuse it and had permission of sorts, I've yet to know a girl who had a real problem; it's just another way guys flirt/annoy/generally harrass the girls they like. :2poke:

I don't agree with the fashion theory, that's a bit much, and I have never ever ever heard some girl talk about her ticklishness the way you describe (trust me I'd remember that 😱 ) but I agree with the rest of your missive :triangle:
