I disagree with ndj101982. Producers who actually cry about having a small fraction of their media shared (e.g. in a forum of tickling enthusiasts) are like fat people crying over a few lost crumbs of food. Heh. First, it just doesn't happen (that is, we don't usually see producers crying here), and second, even if the fatso did cry about his crumbs, LOL, nobody is pathetic enough to care (that is to say, we don't think he'll starve). Besides, I spend; and it's freebies that get me to check out sites and the videos produced there. (Are you hearing this, producers, IT'S FREEBIES THAT GET ME TO...blah blah blah, you know what I'm saying).
Just for the record, I do not mean any malice toward you personally, ndj101982; and I hate flaming replies like mine in this forum anyway. But you just happen to be strumming a very old, ugly and insanely uninteresting tune, and I have just today decided, Im gonna start getting it off my chest. Thanks.
Some people agree with you. Some agree with me. I don't mean to start a war. Peace.
Ditto what he said. Except I would also add in that the "fat people" paragraph has got to be one of the worst analogies I have ever heard. While I'm not sure exactly what the thesis of your post is and I'm not sure how you're measuring or qualifying "a small fraction" (isn't that like minimal piracy or kinda pregnant?), on behalf of many producers who all collectively police the web to protect our material (yes, the materials we spend lots of money and time to produce) from piracy, I can tell you that our material is definitely pirated a lot. I have personally heard from several people who would never buy clips and feel it is their right to pirate everything.
So while I'm unclear of what you are (or are not) saying, I want to be very clear, we are not crying about piracy, we're fighting it collectively with a fury.
Furthermore, in case you've missed it, many of us producers have a very long legacy of giving free stuff (including full length videos) to this community- and when we do choose to give free stuff, it makes us happy to do so.
I only shed a tear for little, helpless orphans on their worst of days - and then I help. Crying's just not my bag baby.
