I know this sounds.. weird. but do any forum members have.. or have any forum members heard of having.. ticklish.. teeth?

The reason I ask is as follows.

I went to see my dentist on Monday.

In additional to the cleaning/perodontal work he did on me, which hurt, he used some machine on my teeth, that felt like a vibrating massage machine, that someone would run over a person's foot, or another part of a person';s body.

The machine he used on my teeth, tickled like mad.

I was almost.. embarrassed, and as he did this, I was laughing as he was working on my mouth, and protesting about it tickling my mouth.

This is the first time I ever remember a dental machine tickling my mouth, or hearing about such a reaction.

Has anyone else ever experienced this, or heard of a similar experience?

You may be referring to that rubber-like thingy that they use to put the fluoride on. I know if it went over onto my gums slightly, it would kinda tickle. And, maybe the sort of low-RPM of that tool could generate some tickling-like sensations - as opposed to the high RPMs of the dreaded drill (but you've got novacaine then....). Maybe you have a devious dentist. 😀[teeth sparkling white]

My dentist uses a tool that vibrates like crazy to remove tartar buildup. It uses sonication but I don't recall the name. That thing tickles a bit, but I'm not sure if that's what tool you're referring to.

My dental hygienist uses the same tool. For me, the tickling sensation that it produces is actually in the gums around the teeth, not it the teeth themselves.

I cannot say I have really experienced this. Mine are more sensitive to cold water or ice

Thought I would revive this thread….

When a cute lady hygienist cleans my teeth it tickles. I start squirming and usually let out a couple of laughs.

During my last visit the cleaning tickled more than ever before. The attractive hygienist noticed and kept saying, “oh, sorry, I know this can be ticklish.”
