ticklishgirl87 txted me and told me that her computer was hacked and crashed and she's only able to communicate with her phone.

so if you get any weird messages on yahoo that's not mobile or anything weird pc's on here it's not her.

if you need to talk to her she's on her phone on yahoo mobile or txt her.

she asked me to send this to you guys.

🙁 Wish you luck with your computer tg87, even if you can't see this post right now.
I don't think the hacker would be interested in her forums or messenger accounts but if she can try to change her passwords using another computer (there's the risk of exposing her secret to others though) that would be better i guess.

Scary. My sister's computer got virused too.

I think it's time to switch to Linux!😱

A little care can go a long way. Rock a good password, use a different one for every site, keep a good antimalware suite up-to-date (for Windows I suggest Microsoft Security Essentials) and use your head out there!

Ever since I switched to Ubuntu Linux I never have to worry about viruses again. 🙂
But is the above problem (of ticklishgirl87) really caused by a hacker or even a virus? Couldn't it be a simple malfunctioning of one of the computer's components?

As well as most people take care of their computer, it's rather hard to tell. So many folks just install whatever crap no matter how janky, click every link no matter how questionable, and generally don't take care of their box. It's really sad that people have such expensive devices and can't bother with taking care of them.

Some people just don't know what they should look out for,or what would a suspicious link looks like,or really anything about protecting their computer.

This is why I hate movies that glorify hackers. Hackers ARE PEOPLE WHO RUIN LIVES! THEY CREATE VIRUSES AND RUIN MILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF HARDWARE ALL OVER THE WORLD! THEY AREN'T HEROES! THEY STEAL PEOPLE'S MONEY, PROPERTY, AND EVEN IDENTITIES!

(huff)...(puff)...sorry...I get ticked about this. I've had to replace three CPU's due to this happening to me. >_< 😛issed

BudweiserBob!'s quick tips on internet security:

- Use different, strong passwords for each site you use and maintain a frequent change of passwords.

- Don't click mysterious hyperlinks.

- Keep personal information personal.

- And for the love of GOD, look both ways before crossing the street!!!

Is Linux based on the old Unix OS? Some of the commands look familiar. I haven't used UNIX since 1984. Radio Shack was experimenting with a 'mini-computer' layout. The system OS was XENIX, a smaller version of UNIX. Same command structure, but not all of the commands.

It never lasted into the '90s. The system was behind the curve when it finally hit the market.

Linux is based on MINIX, a free "UNIX-like" OS which Linus Torvalds built on.
