Ticklishness and age

Do you think that people become more ticklish as they get older, or less ticklish? Or does age have no effect at all?

Personally, while I wouldn't say age has "no affect at all", I dont think age is the determining factor of being ticklish.

Case in point: I've known my best friend for 29 years. He has always told me that his mother is very ticklish. She was 38 when I first met her, and he told me this. Last year there was an incident where they were taking a yoga class together, and the instructor was doing a demonstration on his mother's feet. According to my friend, his mother is still extremely ticklish, even now, at age 67, and she went ballistic with laughter, as the yoga instructor was touching his mother's feet, during a yoga pose demonstration.

This may be only one example, but, it is an example, of how age doesn't necessarially have an effect on ticklishness.

I'd say if it changes for most people, then it decreases. I've heard a lot of people who weren't ticklish say they were when they were young, but I've hardly heard anyone say they weren't ticklish as kids but are now.

Then again that's just hearsay, it could vary for everyone.

I think this is probably true in general, but I do know one woman who is 40 who says that she has become more ticklish as she has gotten older--although she attributes it to being more nervous now than when she was younger. Not sure I buy that explanation, but she is not only very ticklish but also very jumpy when it comes to being touched in general.

mb770 I think you should explore more with this 40 year old woman and tickle her more. Please if you can make a video and share it with us all that would be great....LOL I just love to see women tickled.

My ex-wife became more ticklish as the years went by, but I blamed it on having kids. It was just after giving birth that her sensitivity seen to increase. And her hate of being tickled increased as she became more ticklish.

I've been ticklish all my life. The sensitivity of tickling with me since I was a kid to now being 46 hasn't changed at all. I've been ticklish all over and still am. I hope it never changes.

I don't think age has anything to do with it. I'm about 5 months away from 69 years of age and I am just as ticklish now, as I was 40 years ago.

Is this an oxymoron thread? 😉 I was more ticklish when younger(18+ years old of course) but as I get older I am less ticklish. Yeah, ticklishness is the second thing to go, ha,ha!! One bit of advice as you age, get one of those beeping 'the old fart lost his keys again" thingys and put one on your Sonicare( and get one for the Sonicare you use on your dentures too). I do love finding ladies of my age group that are still ticklish.

I believe that maybe the age has anything to do with it..but the feet are better at young ages.. 20..25..30..35..40.. (and more if she taking care of her feet)

My wife is past her mid fifties...usually. When I'm counting ribs or combing the soles of her feet or making sure her thighs are in good working order, she's about twenty-two! I don't know if she's more ticklish with age, but she sure is the right amount of ticklish!

She might have thought after we were married she would put a stop to this tickling business. I wonder at what age a wife is before she concludes her husband is a tickler, and that's that.

Really, really ticklish women do get prettier as they get older! So far that hasn't stopped! Life doesn't get any better than that! So you have that to look forward to.

ticklishness does not go away with age just being tickled less as we get older i once tickled a woman of 58yrs and she was more ticklish and especially her feet then any lady i have ever tickled.

I dont see why age should increase or decrease how ticklish someone is......could be wrong, just my opinion.

My rough guess would be to say that ticklishness decreases as you grow older
But unless all our accounts jibe together, we can't establish a rule from this.
Has anyone got some idea why it would increase/decrease ? If we can put the finger on some factors we would be far better off to tackle the question.

I'm still as ticklish at forty as I am when I was younger. I'm another one who hopes that she doesn't lose her ticklishness.

I'm 53 and I'm still very very ticklish. Even the bottoms of my feet are ticklish, despite a lifetime of being barefoot most of the time. I must say I'm not as ticklish as I was when I was a girl, but I'm plenty ticklish enough and it still gets me quite aroused.

think i've gotten any less ticklish.
