So bizarre! I just knew, in the eighth, leading into the ninth, that a walk-off homer would win this game! I knew! Star was sitting next to me, and I said to her, "someone's gonna hit a walk-off homer, Star. You watch."

Star purred, stretched, and closed her eyes.

Funniest sign in the stands for me; something like......sweep tonight need the broom at home tomorrow. What an amazing baseball season for the tigers, not matter what happens here on out. Absolutely magical, especially if one is a Tiger fan.

Congratulations indeed to the Tigers, the team not picked by experts to do anythinng this year. Now they can sit back and watch who their opponent will be for the World Series. 😀

You know, Detroit's got a marvelous history. This current club has a very special place already in the franchise's annals, since it so suddenly and completely swept away the darkest era in the team's history in a very grand fashion.

I'm so sorry I never got to see the old place...put an 'a' in there, because a palace it certainly was. Navin Field/Briggs Stadium/Tigers Stadium was truly a hitter's paradise. Nevertheless, Prince Hal Newhouser and Schoolboy Rowe and Jim Bunning and Denny McLain and Jack Morris all did very well there.

Tigers got hot again, at the right time. Stupendous.

From what we`ve seen, its hard to imagine any National League team beating the Tigers. They are an awesome team.

I have been saying that since May. Finally people are starting to get the message that the Tigers are not a mirage but they are that good.

It took 34 years but My Tigers finally made up for 1972 when they played the "Swingin' A's" in the ALCS then. (Remember Bert Campaneris throwing the bat at Tiger pitcher Lerrin Lagrow?) I was at game 4 (I was 11). The game was tied at 1-1 at the end of nine. Oakland scored 2 runs in the top of the 10th inning, but our Beloved Bengals scored 3 in the bottom of the inning, winning the game, tying the series, only to lose the next day 2-1 which eliminated Detroit and propelled the much hated A's (by me) to the World Series. What hurt the most is my dad had tickets to the World Series. To this day, I still hate Oakland. They could be plating the Yankees and I would still want the A's to lose.

I do remember Campy throwing the bat. An act such as that was NOT common in those days (although Don Drysdale richly deserved such retribution on a quad-daily basis). Campaneris originally was supposed to be suspended until like June of 2023 for this act; he wound up only with the first six games of the 1973 season.

That was really the last hurrah for that Detroit club, the club of the Mickey Stanleys and the Kalines and the Cashes and the Loliches. After several rebuilding years, the era of Whittaker and Trammell would begin...but that hiatus was quite like the one that ended this year.

If the Mets win, it will be the first meeting of both clubs. If the Mets lose, it will be Cards/Tigers III. Rubber match.

we had the pleasure of seeing the Tigers play St Louis earlier in the season, (with TF4F and Sadira) a 10 inning win by the Tigers. An absolutely great baseball game. No matter who they play it will be a good series. Now if I had such great company thru the series how memorable that would be. :bowing:

Now let's see in the series Pulols was 6 for 12 with a homerun and 2 RBI in this series. So you DON'T in this case have a CLUE what you are talking about. PLEASE check yourself before you tell us that Pujols was injuried and DID NOT PLAY!!! Because we were THERE!!! YOU WERE NOT!!! Now that is pretty amazing that Pujols was 6 for 12 when he did not play now isn't it??? Give credit to the fans who MIGHT actually know what they are talking about.

Geez, it seems like weeks ago that the Tigers won the AL. Let's get a move on!!! 🙂
It has been scheduled for the 21st of October. Everyone knew that. This has to do with FOX not anything else. Besides you should be looking to have the Mets and Cardinals play forever before playing Detroit. Especially if it is the Mets, because the Mets are the only team in baseball capable of beating the Tigers in a seven game series.

I agree with you, however when you're on a roll you don't want to stop the momentum. It'll be really interesting to see how Leyland rolls out his rotation. If he waits to use Robertson on the road that will mean almost 2 weeks w/o pitching. We'll see how it all plays out, it's going to be tough to beat Detroit right now..

That was the game that Pokey was referring to that we went to on June 24th,2006. Now we will look at June 25th,2006:

Now let's see in the series Pulols was 6 for 12 with a homerun and 2 RBI in this series. So you DON'T in this case have a CLUE what you are talking about. PLEASE check yourself before you tell us that Pujols was injuried and DID NOT PLAY!!! Because we were THERE!!! YOU WERE NOT!!! Now that is pretty amazing that Pujols was 6 for 12 when he did not play now isn't it??? Give credit to the fans who MIGHT actually know what they are talking about.

Jesus christ its annoying to delete stats to make a simple reply

YES I WAS WRONG, what i ment was this. Pujols hurt his ribcage was was gone for over 2 weeks. He came back the very end of the whitesox\cards series. If you ever played a sport then you'd know, being gone for an extensive point of time, it takes a while to get your timing back, esp your swing timing. He didnt come back till the first det game or if that, the very last game of the sox\cards series

He went 6 for 12 with a homerun and 2RBI. Your point is not valid. So now with his hamstring problem, if they play the Tigers will that not validate the Tigers winning it all if Pujols is still injured??? Why don't you give the Tigers some credit instead of discrediting them. I am a Mets fan and if we get by the Redbirds, I expect the Tigers to win it in 6. If the Cardinals go to the series, it will only be a five game series. The Tigers are that good.
