What many people here who know me well enough will find surprising, is that despite being both a Tim Burton fan and quite obviously and Alice and Wonderland fan, I'm actually really sketchy about this whole thing. Its like two great tastes that taste strange together. Alice in Wonderland is one of those stories that NO ONE has done correctly in film form, the closest being a made for TV version back in the 80's that was done in two parts, telling both stories separately; Alice in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass which most people are surprised to learn are actually two completely separate stories. The only aspect that killed that was making it a musical and using a rather odd selection of B-movie and second rate TV personalities for the cast like Telly Sevalis and Scott Baio.
Granted the Cheshire Cat looks AWESOME in this trailer...but I heard that in this one they're introducing a ROMANTIC ELEMENT BETWEEN ALICE AND THE MAD HATTER! 😛issed ......WHY CAN'T ANYONE DO IT RIGHT?!?! Why does everyone ALWAYS have to change something!?! Either make it "darker" or "modernized" or "with a twist"....COME ON!!!
I have this mental image of some long table with all these film heads talking, that one guy stands up and goes "Hey I know guys! Why don't we just keep it as is and not change anything AT ALL?"....and then he's swiftly shot in the head...
.....is just one director/producer actually doing the story AUTHENTICALLY really too much to ask? ....someone go talk to Zack Snyder...he couldn't have done a more authentic direct adaptation of the Watchmen comic if he tried...
......but yeah I know I'll see it....it is Alice after all 🙂
