1973 Vice Principal comes over, takes a look at Jackson 's rifle, goes to his car and gets his to show Jackson .

2006 School goes into lock down, FBI called, Jackson hauled off to jail and never sees his truck or gun again. Counselors called in for traumatized students and teachers.

Scenario: Al and Dave get into a fist fight after school.

1973 Crowd gathers. Al wins. Dave and Al shake hands and end up best friends. Nobody goes to jail, nobody arrested, nobody expelled.

2006 Police called, SWAT team arrives, arrests Al and Dave. Charge them with assault, both expelled even though Al started it.

1973 Billy B. sent to office and given a good paddling by Principal. Sits still in class.

2006 Billy B. given huge doses of Ritalin. Becomes a zombie. School gets extra money from state because Bill y has a disability.

Scenario: Ben breaks a window in his father's car and his Dad gives him a whipping.

1973 Ben is more careful next time, grows up normal, goes to college, and becomes a successful businessman.

2006 Ben's Dad is arrested for child abuse. Ben removed to foster care and joins a gang. Ben's sister is told by state psychologist that she remembers being abused herself and their Dad goes to prison. Ben's mom has affair with psychologist.

1973 Steve shares headache medicine with Principal out on the smoking dock.

2006 Police called, Steve expelled from school for drug violations. Car searched for drugs and weapons.

1973 5 High School Boys leave town. Dana does her senior year at a special school for expectant mothers.

2006 Middle School Counselor calls Planned Parenthood, who notifies the ACLU. Mary is driven to the next state over and gets an abortion without her parent's consent or knowledge. Mary given condoms and told to be more careful next time.

Scenario: Pedro fails high school English.

1973 Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.

2006 : Pedro's cause is taken up by state democratic party. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class action lawsuit against state school system and Pedro's English teacher. English banned from core curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway but ends up mowing lawns for a living because he can't speak English.

Scenario: Skip takes apart leftover firecrackers from the 4th of July, puts them in a model airplane paint bottle, blows up a red ant bed.

1973 Ants die.

2006 BATF, Homeland Security, FBI called. Skip charged with domestic terrorism, FBI investigates parents, siblings removed from home, computers confiscated, Skip's Dad goes on a terror watch list and is never allowed to fly again.

He is found crying by his teacher, Mary. Mary, hugs him to comfort him.

1973 - In a short time Howie feels better and goes on playing.

2006 - Mary is accused of being a sexual predator and loses her job. She faces 3 years in State Prison.

Concur,Bugman! As someone who coaches at a high school,I`ve seen scenarios such as those Ray listed time and again.

My hands got whacked several times by wooden ruler yielding nuns back in elementary school, whenever I got out of line. (which was often) hehe Eventually, I got the message and stopped the nonsense. Nowadays, a teacher would be the lead story on the six pm news for that kind of punishment. I have been saying for years that progress does not always make things better. Now, to keep this thread from being moved to the P&R forum I say, very funny Venray!!!

IMO, this represents an improvement in reponse, while the others all represent deteriorations.

This from a guy who got expelled from the Boy Scouts for being TOO prepared. (Brought condoms on a coed overnight hike.) 😉

BTW, Uncle Bill; where exactly was this school with the yielding nuns? Sounds like a fun roleplay.

It is what they call "pussification of society".
Gyod when I was in first grade, me and my best friend used to throw fists all the time [usually at each other], that is how I lost a couple baby teeth. We would just go see the asst. principal, he would chew our asses, and life went on.

In my kids school, they can still get paddled.
"Hey dad, you know what some kid in my school did...? ...and he got paddled!"

He then dances around like a kid that got a whack. Funny little shit. 😀
I don't know if he is just saying this to be funny or if they really CAN still paddle.
On the other hand, he knows not to fuck up.

At his old school, he beat some kid up cause the other kid was giving him a hard time. The damned school therapist got invloved, and she dropped a deuce in her pantyhose when I said "I would have done the same thing if I were in his shoes!" That deuce sounded like an anchor hitting the deck.

how about this for a scenario? and it happened while i was in grade school, and i was a witness..the principal enters our classroom to confront an unruly boy..the boy was mouthing off i think, ( i mean come on, that was forty years ago, i'm not expected to remember everything lol,) well anyway, the principal picks the boy up and throws him across the room..if that happened today? well there would be such an uproar, however at that time i remember being very shocked, picking him up and tossing him clear across the room was a bit extreme..the boy was very embarrassed, but unharmed.

Sister Margaret Mary was built like a linebacker, and escape from her clutches was futile. And Sister Jane was a German immagrant who even walked with a goose step.
