I went to a bar last night with some friends. There were maybe 25 people there and it took 40 minutes to get our drinks, every round. We decided that the waitress didnt deserve a tip, and gave her a dollar. She apologized for the inconvience of having to change waitresses because her shift was over and that the next waitress was going to be right over. After waiting 45 minutes, we went to the bar to order. The bartender was like, "Yeah no one is going to serve you because you are all lousy tippers" We paid the tab and left. Then we called the manager, who told us, that if we would start tipping better, we would get better service. We couldnt get him to understand that a tip is a gratuity and that you dont deserve a tip at all if you give lousy service. And tipping isnt mandatory. He then told us that we didnt understand that the waitress only makes $2.30 an hour and that they have to pay the bartenders wages out of their tips. I cant figure out why he didnt care that he lost 10 customers, who each time they came through the door, dropped at least $200 EACH.
