Thats quite an honor for both players. As great of a football player as Walter Payton was, he was an even better person. I actually had the pleasure of meeting Connie Payton several years ago at a soccer tournament in St. Louis that their son Jared was participating in. The boy was taller than Walter, but had inherited many of the athletic skills that his dad had. The opposing team had three players shadowing Jared all over the field and still couldn`t stop him. He eventually gave up soccer and followed Walters footsteps as a running back, and If I`m not mistaken had a brief stint in the NFL.

He played for the Titans mainly as a short yardage back - think now he is on their practice squad.
