im filling up my ipod ready for travelling (2 weeks) and im looking for inspiration. what should i be listening to while im away?

I'd recommend Dire Straits, assuming you don't already have them. I didn't until I borrowed a friend's CD for a 6 hour drive to Scotland, it really helped! Also, if you are driving at all then avoid anything too heavy. As much as I love metal it turned me into a complete maniac...

i wont be driving until maybe oz but yeah im not into anything too heavy anyway. im thinking more beach music lol.

bohemianne that albums the one where they stepped away from metal for a bit yeah? ill have a looky

^ Yes. In fact it is a full acoustic guitar trip with a flair of complex riffs. Yet still it has very soulful impact with it and is pretty much a quality album. But of course, it is still up to your ears.

haha blimey that was a pretty full on review! im pretty open to most things aslong as its not metal lol

^ Lol. You should've warned me (us) from the start: no metal. But alright.

I use the Roxio program already installed in my computer and burn a disk or three of songs I have in My Music collection. Each disk is about 120 minutes long and never the same artist twice. So I simply put in who and what I want to hear and the beauty of it all is that it is free.

My four favorite driving songs:

Radar Love by Golden Earring
Green Eyed Lady by Sugarloaf
Frankenstein by the Edgar Winter Group
Hocus Pocus by Focus

If you're in a hurry, I suggest playing "Yakety Sax" by James Rich on loop. (Benny Hill chase music)

On a serious note, I don't really have driving music, but perhaps as your travel you could scan the radio stations in different areas and check out the local tunes. It's amazing how much even similar genre-themed stations will differ between geographical demographics. Might hear something you like!

Off the top of my head 808 state - Pacific state always reminds me of beautiful weather and the beach, really good to chill out to as well. Have a good time.

Gerry Rafferty's CITY to CITY album
+ Beatles ALL ALBUMS recommended
+ Benn Jordan's Pale Blue Dot album if your into ambiant electronica
+ Big Wreck
