Ross went to Dallas that afternoon. He deplaned, and , instead of flying to OKC, got off in Dallas, where he went to Alan the lawyer's office, and met with Alan, while Fritz and Steve were present from OKC via videoconference.
"Gentlemen, we have a couple of problems. I think that the Commission does not want to grant you the drilling rights, because they know your company and your holdings, and your success in Oklahoma, and they are concerned about you "Cornering the Market" and it is also about "Flexing Their Political Muscle" Alan said.
" Can we negotiate with them? What can we do? Can we offer to maybe, sell some of the rights to the wells or the wells themselves outright to another company, or, perhaps keep a token settlement on part of the wells we would be forced to get rid of, to make some financial reward from, or, are we talking about complete hardball where we end up in court?"Ross said.
"Let me try to negotiate with them., In the meantime, take your eyes off this for a while. I know that you guys own well holdings in Alaska and Canada. Why dont you call people involved with those, maybe, open wells or at least some wells up there, get some production out, while we wait for this, as we dont know how long this is going to take": Alan said.
Ross sighed. "Fritz, I have an idea. How about I come to OKC from Dallas, You, Steve, and I meet tonight. We talk to the people in Canada, I go back to New York tomorrow. I arrange a meeting with the people regarding the wells in Canada ASAP, and we start opening up those wells and recruiting up there, so we get something done, while this Texas mess plays out?" Ross suggested.
Fritz grinned. "Big, sophisticated business mind from New York. That is a wonderful idea" Fritz said.
Ross shook Alan's hand and started out of the office. "Iam behind you guys in every way. Ross, I know that you are not a man of patience. This time , buddy, you are going to have to hold your water. We will be in for a ride here" Alan said.

"Also, very important, when I said that "I will try to negotiate with them. I legally cant do that because of the fact that I''m an investor in your company. But, as such, I will draw up papers stating that I have no legal involvement in representing any of you or your company, but, that you were referred by someone in my office, to another firm. I will get you the best legal counsel I know to deal with this" Alan said.

After a meeting by Ross, Fritz and Steve that night, Ross flew back to New York went home, and got his passport, then went back to JFK, and got on a plane to Toronto, where he went to meet, John, the guy who oversaw the Canadian energy venture
"Ross, I'm John, nice to meet you" John said.
"Likewise, John" Ross said.
After introductions, they got down to business.
"I would say that based on the geological I have, there is about a billion dollars in natural gas in the fields on the outskirts of Toronto. Anything in Alaska is totally separate. Let's deal with this first, bring in test wells, then concentrate on recruiting investors" John said.
"How long will it take to drill and bring in a test well?" Ross asked.
"On average about ninety days. After that, once we prove there is natural gas there, then we can go about recruiting investors. I have many business contacts., I know from discussions with Fritz that you guys like to try to sell off one hundred million at a time. The first one hundred mil should be sold with little problem" John said,.
"Wonderful!" Ross said.
Ross and John had dinner that night, discussed the wells, social topics, and other possible business ventures.
Ross went back to New York the next afternoon, went home, as Kayley was just getting home.
"Mmmmmmm, teacher, helllloo!" Ross said, kissing Kayley and putting his tounge in her mouth
"Dirty mind, world hopping energy man" Kayley said.
"Can I tickle you, teacher, pleeease!" Ross pleaded.

"Good, maybe by the end of the shower, we can have enough energy to do it before dinner" Ross said.
Ross threw off his clothes, as Kayley went into the bathroom, where Ross saw his answering machine light flashing.
Unwisely, he hit it, and the thing he hated the worst in business talked to him.
"It was none other than, Baby Timmy!"
"Ross, I dont know where you are, but I need to talk to you ASAP" Tim said.
Ross got his cell phone and texted Tim.
"In Toronto on business, dealing with oil and gas, just got in from OKC, will be home in a day or two: Ross texted.
Ross sighed.
After the aggravating OKC trip and the jaunt to Toronto, Ross needed a quiet night with Kayley before talking to Tim.
What would happen with the Canada part of the venture?
Could the lawyer who Alan referred Ross to negotiate with the Texas energy people?
