Part II may sound unbelievable, but I swear it is 100% True...Anyhoo..
The next day I had my new plan formulated. I made my first call, and after I finshed the survey, I asked if she had any brothers or sisters that also might like to answer it (I already knew she did, but I couldn't just ask for her). Sure enough, she was excited to answer it, anything to be more like the "adults", I guess. After she answered, I thanked them and asked if they would mind doing me a favor. The older sister was a littl ehesitant, but said "sure."
Here came the tricky part. I had to gauge whether or not she might freak when I asked her the favor, but she had seemed really cool about the survey, and her little sister was excited about it, so I went for it! I explained to her that My Dad was also working on a laugh track, and we were trying to collect laughter for the tape. All I need is for her and her sister to laugh for me, I would record it over the phone, and we would add it to the main tape. Much to my surprise she said "OK." She kinda laughed a little, and I asked her if she could get her sister to laugh. She put her on, and I explained it to her, and she also laughed a little better, but of course, not what I wanted. So, i continued with my new bold plan, I'd already come this far. They were buying it...what did I have to lose? I asked the younger sister if she had a pretty good sense of humor, to which of course she replied "yes!" Okay, what about her sister? Yes, she did, too. So far...so good. I then asked if she could play a prank on her sister, to try and get her to laugh really good for the tape. She didn't even hesitate. They had said they were in the living room earlier in our conversation, so I asked if she could sit beside her older sister on the couch. Her sister sounded curious in the background, but played along with her request. Then I asked her to get her feet in her lap. Her sister was asking what's going on, and kinda giggle already, but, surprisingly enough..she did it. Alright, I asked her if her sister had any shoes or socks on, and if so, take them off. Now she was giggling too, but she did it. Now, the moment of truth. I asked her to get her ankles in kind of a headlock (which she said she did). At this point, I'm wondering if the older sister is ever goping to get what's going on, but she seemed oblivious as she kept asking what she was doing. I then asked her THE QUESTION. I asked her if she could hand the phone to her sister, and as soon as she said "Hello," start tickling her feet as long as she could hold on to them, so I could get some really good, realistic laughter for my tape. I held my breath...and she did it!!! I heard a pause, then "hello?", followed by her squealing with laughter. I was floored! I couldn't believe it had actually worked! She was laughing hysterically, and trying to ask her sister what she was doing, and telling her to stop! It only lasted about 30 seconds, but I was in Heaven!
After she got her sister to stop, she was still giggling as she asked me what that was all about. I explained to her the reasoning behind her tickling assault, and she kinda laughed again, but she wasn't upset at all. She said if I wanted some great laughter, to hold on for a second. I guess she set the phone down, cause a couple of seconds later, I could here her little sister getting some payback! I didn't even have to ask her! I don't know where she tickled her, but I could hear her tickling the daylights out of her sister! And she was right, her little sister did have a really pretty laugh, the kind of girlish sound you can never get tired of hearing. She did that for about a minute or so, then came back on and asked me how that was? What could I say?! As "professionally" as I could, I told her that was perfect, and I thanked them both again for their participation in the "survey." I was about to hang up, but she stopped me and asked if I could call one of her friends!!! She said how much fun this was, and thought her friend would get a kick out of this. She gave me her name and number, but ask me not to tell her friend who gave me her number. Of course, I agreed, and we hung up.
I was psyched! I couldn't believe the survey had worked to begin with, but now I had actually managed to talk two girls into tickling each other (well, I talked one into it, the other volunteered😉 ), all for a total stranger, and a chance to have their names in the paper!! It had been a lot of fun, but I was still in awe that it all had worked so smoothly. I had to try it again...
But I guess that should wait for Part III, as this is getting a little long...Anyone want to hear the rest?
