Some time ago I had a site called Tukano's Island, where I used to put my drawings, plus some other stuff. I haven't posted anything there in a while and I realized that I even lost some of my drawings, so I thought to setup a new site, just to collect the ones I found, together with colored versions of my drawings made by nice people who liked my humble work.
I moved the site to a new location, partly because of the easier to remember url:
- old one: http://www.geocities.com/southbeach/lagoon/8020/
- new one: http://tukano.t35.com
Slighly better, don't you think? 🙂

Unfortunately there is a ad pop up opening the first page, but you can just block it with any popup blockers or simply using Mozilla/Firefox and setting the anti popup option.

There are Italian and English versions of the site.

Please, let me know what you think about it.

Hello tukano,

your art is really super. But when I tried to view see the pics bed8.gif, jungle.gif - Jungle 2, tukano_109_m-f I received the message "Error page not found.

Yours sincerely

Edmont

Glad you liked it 🙂
Edmont: thanks for telling me, I'll fix it as soon as possibile 🙂

Well done! An effective, uncomplicatd design. A word of caution: whenever you put your email online, especially with the mailto: command in front of it, it becomes very easy for spambots to find it. I would suggest changed the @ symbol in that line, mailto:[email protected], to (at), which will fool the spambots. While this will require legitimate emails to change it back, it keeps you a little bit spam free, until the 'bots find a way around it.

Tukano, when I went to the site, clicking on the pics sent me to a series of pop-up adds that loaded adware and other junk via the windows problem with being albe to get ot ones pc via JPEGS. I owuld advice reloading the pics in a way that a spammer can;t get to it...took me an hour to clean the juck off my PC.

I have always loved your art. Your orignal website was one of the first i ever found and showed my that my love of tickling was not original or weird. HEnce why I wanted to warn you! I have much repext for your art and don;t want some spammer/hacker ruining it!

First of all, thank you for your appreciation of my drawings 🙂
Actually, I don't know what to think about the adware problems. That is a free hosting site, just like geocities or angelfire, I don't think they are spreading adware. I never had this problem with the site.
Anyone else had similar problems?

Free hosts nearly always spread adware and spyware through their sites. The creators of the nasty stuff pay the hosts to include it in the advertisments they display on hosted sites. This is how the hosting remains free.

-> Tukano.

All thumbs up, man. 🙂
Fitting packaging, great contents. 😀
And besides, who cares for the package when the content is so good? 🙂

I really like how your style evolved so far.
In your latest works you finally merged the fine lines of your earlier pics with the rich detail of your later art.

About tech-stuff: I had no prob with dialers or adware. But I surf with Mozilla, and I turned popup off.
I noticed the server was a bit slow, and maybe setting up a mirror on an italian server might lighten the traffic up on the main site.

Great, great stuff - ok, if I really *have* to complain, too much */M for my tastes... 😉 - and great seeing you back with a site. 🙂

Reg's.

Thank you so much Kalamos 🙂

I tried to use a php routine to send e-mail, but probably their server don't let me send e-mail directly, so I decided to put the classic "mailto:" link. If it gets too much spam, I simply change the e-mail address, or put some filters, or someother solutions 🙂

I'm afraid I'm not so an advanced site administrator... Have you suggestions on how to do it?
I'm really sorry about the problems you had :-(

Sincerely, I don't know what I can do with the problem kyhawkeye pointed out. It's not my server, it's just a free server I used, just like the old geocities server.
If this is a problem for other people, I can just move the site back to geocities, hoping that there they have less hidden adware and spyware 🙂

Well, the slowness can derive also from the fact that I'm using PHP to load the image list from a file. But it's true, it's not the fastest server ever. I chose it because of the short URL and because it let me use PHP.
I could do something very easy: I could save the dynamically loaded pages as static pages and put them back in the old geocities site, or somewhere else. I'll try it when I've time.

Well, to anyone his own 🙂

Personally I'd stick to plain static hmtl... but... er... my html skills are limited. 😀

Setting up a mirror on something like tiscali or something might be a viable solution. Most sites hosted by them I've seen so far were low on spyware and all.

But again... unicuique suum. 😀

I wish I did. I know nothing about setting up web pages and such. This might be somthing that Jaynin, HDS or TT might have more expertise with. Only thing I can think of is reloading the pics and somehow removing their "claws' off the link. I wish I knew how to do it....really...
