Hey pholks and phellow phans,
This is a bit old-school and behind the times, but a few months ago I stumbled across two great games for Star Wars fans.
If you go to www.bruneras.com you can download two games...The Battle of Yavin and The Battle of Endor. Both are very cool games to this day, even though they were made in '04.
In both, you get a first-person view from inside the cockpit of an X-wing fighter in these iconic space battles. You'll take on tons of TIE fighters, TIE Interceptors (Endor) and even go up against Star Destroyers. In Yavin, you hold off two Star Destroyers unleashing loads of TIEs before you even get to the Death Star...then you face three rounds of surface attacks against gun battery emplacements and more TIEs and a final Star Destroyer unleashing a horde. THEN...you get to fly down the infamous trench run...with Vader on your heels at the end.
In Endor, you try and hold off endless squadrons of fighters and take on Star Destroyers while defending your fleet of rebel capital ships AND make sure the Millennium Falcon stays alive so it can fly into the second Death Star. If you pull that off, you stay to face down an Executor-class Star Destroyer before it can take out your capital base ship.
Both games require you to fly with a limited number of wingmen and make sure they stay alive (this is especially important in Yavin, where you only get the classic "30 Rebel Ships").
One thing to make sure of, though. If you download the games, download the graphics mods for them linked-to at the bottom of each game description. This way, you get the graphics for the ships. Otherwise, you just get the shapes with no detail. Still playable, but boring.
And, as an added bonus...both games have additional mods to turn them into a Tron game (Yavin) or a Star Trek: DS9 game (Endor").
If anyone does get these games and needs help with them (they are complex and seriously challenging for older games), just post here and I'll do my best to give you tips. Both games are a SHITLOAD of fun and very challenging...I have beaten Endor...but still am trying to beat Yavin, it's that tough.
Good gaming!
