Long week, but what a way to wrap it up. 🙂

So, that Rich Franklin kid? He's pretty good on the ground, eh? 😀

And Matt Serra did an amazing job of landing all one punches he took last night. My favourite part of that fight was in the list of GSP's strengths, they put "The Complete Fighter". They might as well have put his strengths as 'seemingly invincible'. lol

If GSP retains that level of focus and intensity, nobody at 170 right now will have a chance against him. Vive les Quebecois!

May 2-4 gives a brilliant card. Sherk/Penn, Silva/Jardine, Machida/Ortiz and Swick/Davis are all going to be amazing fights. See you in May!

I must admit I was cheering for Serra. I think GSP overlooked him the first time. I'm just glad Matt "Asshole" Hughes isn't the champ. Something about that whole MFC/Bentondorf, Iowa crew just rubs me wrong. Poor Rich Franklin will never win the belt from Silva. The 170 and 185 divisions have their best fighters as champions. Unless they get lazy GSP and Silva will reign for a long time.

After May 2-4, you can add BJ Penn to that list of champs who will stay champs. 🙂

Despite the mocking, i was pissed off at the Quarry fight. The dude just ran from him and then had the nerve to mouth off and try to act all hard when he lost. The best tho is when quarry whipped out the rocky reference

Hey Snail,

I was watching a preview of that PPV card on satellite, and there was this guy they did a preview on name Lutter, who apparently was the only one who came inches close to beating Silva, what gives on this guy?

He was winning the 1rst round against Franklin. The he gassed out and got tko'd.

Franklin almost lost though when Lutter got him in that armlock, no idea how the hell Franklin rolled out of that one

I am not a fan of Lutter. He's one of the sickest BJJ guys, but his stand-up and conditioning blows. I think he drinks his own kool-aid and believes if he just get his opponents to the ground he can submit them. But if he applies a submission and they survive he is in trouble. Lutter seems to lack the arsenal, tactical depth and stamina to regroup if his first submission doesn't end the match. He is a one trick pony and if that trick doesn't payoff, Lutter is toast.

Travis Lutter. One of the best American practitioners of BJJ in the history of MMA. Had a shot at the UFC and didn't do so well, so they brought him back for The Ultimate Fighter 4: The Comeback. He won for the Middleweight division and earned a title shot against Anderson Silva.

Lutter missed weight (185lb limit, he came in at 187.5) and the fight was ruled non-title. In the first round, Lutter mounted Silva and got in some average-strength ground and pound, which some believe should have ended the fight. In the second round, Silva tapped Lutter with a triangle choke/elbows. Thus far, nobody else in the UFC has come as close to beating Silva as Lutter, which isn't saying much. Silva is head and shoulders above anyone else at 185 and is ranked #1 in the world in any weight class for a reason. 😉

Franklin, this past Saturday, was Lutter's first fight since losing to Silva. Lutter looked good in the first round and almost locked in an armbar to win the fight, but Franklin escaped. Round 2 saw Franklin pummel Lutter into a TKO win.

As everyone else has said, Travis Lutter has unreal submission skills and is one of the top BJJ games in MMA. His stand-up I'd rate as slightly below average. His conditioning is poor. Basically, his whole game revolves around scoring an early submission win. As a person, I think he's very arrogant and shoots his mouth off farther than his mouth can retrieve. He was talking about a rematch with Anderson Silva a lot before the Franklin fight. That fight will not happen in the near future at this rate.

Hope that answers your question man. How's you doing? I hear that Triple H guy is having issues with that Orton kid. 🙂

I wouldn't be surprised if Dana White releases Lutter from his contract.
Fitch is surely GSP's next challenger.
Bisping is scheduled to fight Leben at UFC 85 in UK.

Dude, if the King of Kings needs a throne, you just need to sit down. 😉

It's good to hear from you again man! I'm looking into getting to the MI Halloween gathering this year man. Should be a blast. Funding and timing permitting of course. 🙂

Cheers to you and yours eh?
