Okay Natural. PAY THE HELL ATTENTION THIS TIME!

The year to date: 13/19

I'm going to go over the easy pics quickly because I'm REALLY looking forward to the main event. 😀

Frankie Edgar vs. Sean Sherk
Sherk's huge by comparison and has beaten better grapplers. It's pretty academic.
My Call: Sherk by Decision

Matt Hughes vs. Matt Serra
Serra beating GSP was a fluke. Hughes has fought better BJJ guys and squashed them. Again, academic.
My Call: Hughes by Decision

Rashad Evans vs. Lyoto Machida
Um, ouch. This can be boiled down to one question; who's undefeated record do you think will end on Saturday?

Do I think Rashad Evans is the guy to put that first blotch on Machida's record? No. Evans is a great boxer and wrestler, but Machida has found this style that counters everything that boxing and wrestling hold dear. Machida has solid striking and a solid ground game. He has all the tools he needs to put away a guy like Evans.

Now, that being said, do I think Lyoto Machida is the guy to put the first blotch on Evans' record? Again, no. Machida has never faced a fighter of the caliber of Evans. Thiago Silva's chin was suspect before Machida fought him and he's the closest you'll get. Evans has the best standup and the best wrestling Machida has seen. On top of that, Evans is very quick striking and that coupled with his one-punch KO power might be enough to take out Machida. Plus, if anyone can put together a plan to take down a guy like Machida, it's Greg Jackson.

I want Evans to win. He's grown a lot since TUF 2. More to the point, he always puts on a show. Machida, let's face it, has had some really, REALLY boring fights. As much as I hate to say it, Evans is tough enough that he probably won't go down, which means Machida's throw three punches and run away strategy might work. *sigh*
My Call: Machida by Decision

See you Saturday!

I agree with you on Hughes/Serra and Sherk/Edgar.

Nevertheless, I think Machida will become the new champ.

I think Machida will become the new champ.

I think so too. I just think it will be a boring 25 minutes of watching Machida running away and getting the decision instead of a huge KO or submission. I don't WANT Machida to win, but I think he will. 🙁

it's a shame that Okami was injured. :dropatear He's a legit threat to Silva.

Yes. He's the last man to beat Silva, albeit by DQ. As for the 185 title race, Bisping/Henderson is set for UFC 100. I believe it's UFC 102 will have Nate Marquardt vs. Damien Maia. Either fight, the winner should get a shot at Silva and have a chance at winning.

It's the 170 division that worries me. If Alves goes down to GSP, who's left? O.O

sherk by tko

give me serra by descion.. hughes is gettin old and seems to have lost a step

and give me sugar by ko... rashad is my fav fighter and hopefully he gets it done

I'd love to see Hughes win but I just don't feel it happening.

that being said...Machida is gonna fuck Rashads's shit up.

Martin "The Hitman" Kampmann. He's versatile, he trains with Couture and he was the 1rst guy to beat Leites.

That's true. He may be a solid contender, but can you really see him beating GSP? GSP is stronger, a spectacular wrestler to cover Kampmann's okay-not-great ground game and Kampmann's been KO'd by Nate Marquardt, who trains with GSP. Kampmann might get a shot, but I doubt he'll beat GSP.

Sincerely hoping for an exciting main event tonight!

The loss against Marquardt was in the MW division. And Marquardt lost against Leites who lost against Kampmann.
MMAth is tricky.

I also agree with the majority for the predictions.

This fight could very well be Hughes' last fight win or lose.He has stated in the past that he doesn't want to stick around longer than he should.A win over Serra would be a great opportunity to end a legendary career on a high note.As a fan,I'm definately pulling for Hughes.

The fact that the main event features two undefeated fighters is very interesting.I personally would rather see Machida win because he brings something new.Nothing against Rashad's skills but he falls into that category of awesome wrestler with b level kickboxing that we see so much of in the UFC.Guys like Koscheck,T Griffin, who are great fighters but possess a similar style.Though Machida does fight cautiously which can result in slow paced fights, his style puts 'martial arts' back in mixed martial arts.I believe with proper matchmaking Machida could be a very entertaining fighter.

Most definately looking forward to tonights fights.

Offtopic but how about Crocop coming back for 99.He may not be the Crocop of old but I am certainly excited every time he fights. He's one of those guys that has made a career out of devastating ko's and even though he shows signs of age, he is always dangerous. He said in an interview that he has trained extensively on his hands which he hadn't done for a while.Hopefully he string together some wins.

Hughes won by decision but I thought the fight was a lot closer then the judges thought.. it could of went either way.

Rashad knocked the fuk out...... Machida will be champ for a very long time...

Yeah....yeah.

You're right Kang. MMAth is hard. The bottom line is, we'll only know for sure if they get into the cage together. 🙂

As for Crocop coming back, he'd better do something impressive this time. If he doesn't, the HW division could get very stale very quickly from lack of competition.

I'm proud to see Lyoto represent traditional martial arts and i do like Rashad Evans as well. But if anyone deserved to beat Evans it was Michida. Now I believe Lyoto will probably have to go up against Rua or Jackson. Technically I think Jackson is next in line since he was slated to fight Evans initially. But we may see a Rampage vs Shogun rematch. Then that winner will most likely take on Michida.

Rampage gets Machida at UFC 104 in Tennesee. Jackson's the home town hero for this one!

Gotcha, Snail Shell. Quinton may have to bring back some of the old Rampage style fighting and mix it with some of his new more technical striking style to take down Michida.

Rampage probably will get the next shot at the title.I don't think they would make him rematch Shogun first and put the division on hold for that long.I think Machida/Jackson will play out a lot like Silva/Griffin coming up in a couple months.

I'd personally would rather see Shogun/Machida but I'm sure that fight is down the road.

What's up with Sean Sherk taking off from the arena?

You know I expected more from Sherk. His takedown attempts were great. But he lost the same way he lost to BJ Penn, distance and speed. Granted he didn't get knocked out, but there were some convincing moments where I thought he would go down.

Sherk lost because he's a phenomenal wrestler trying to fight a boxing match. He doesn't have the reach or technique to make him a solid threat standing up. If he'd gone after the big takedowns and nasty G 'n P that made him the champ in the first place, he'd have a better shot.

And that's news to me Abel. I heard 104 was going to be in TN for Rampage's title shot. Oh well.
