my picks..

mirko cro cop vs gabriel gonzaga - cro cop 2nd round KO/TKO.. napao is tough and has a good chin, but i don't think he will be able to take cro cop down and will be broken down by crisp striking.. maybe even a HL reel KO

andrei arlovski vs fabricio werdum - werdum 2nd round submission.. arlovski is great, one of the best, but werdum is better.. his standup will be good enough to match up with andrei, and on the ground werdum will own him.. it will go back and forth on the feet, some scrambles on the ground and some clinches, and then in the second round werdum will explode, get the takedown, and finish with a submission

mike bisping vs elvis sinosic - bisping 1st round KO.. people say bisping is overhyped.. i say wait and watch him.. sinosic is no can, but i think he is more of a gatekeeper than a competitor.. bispsing has better standup, better wrestling, better jiu-jitsu, and is just overall bigger.. this fight will go alot like elvis vs forrest.. elvis goes down cold or gets stopped due to being pummeled on the ground.. unless he gives up a submission

lyoto machida vs david heath - machida 2nd round KO - machida is notorious for not finishing his opponents, but i dont think heath is ready for a matchup like this.. machida will stop the takedowns and pick him apart on the feet before putting him to sleep in the second

assuerio silva vs cheik kongo - silva 1st round submission.. silva will take this to the ground, and he will submit kongo.. end of story

matt grice vs terry etim - grice 1st round KO - only seem a HL vid of grice, but he looks like a monster.. very aggressive, KO power, good technique.. etim is undefeated and wins alot by submission, but grice has some SICK ground and pound.. its both of their debuts, so they may not let it all out, but then again they may.. i think grice is a rising star though, if he can keep performing like he has been..

david lee vs junior assuncaio - lee 2nd round submission.. junior is a beast and a very, VERY aggressive striker, but i think Lee will withstand it and wear junior down, take him down, and submit him in the second.. unless junior takes his head off first

jess liaudin vs denis siver - siver 2nd round submission - siver is a great german fighter, i've seen his HL's, and he has alot of holes in his game, but you need to be quick to capitalize on them.. he has very heavy hands, but his form isn't so great.. he leaves himself open alot.. but at the same time, he is such a strong wrestler and he always comes forward.. liaudin is an alright fighter, and he could pull off the win, but i see siver dominating him and submitting him in the second

paul taylor vs edilberto souza de oliveira - oliveira 1st round KO.. oliveira trains with black house in brazil with anderson silva and vitor belfort.. he is undeafeated in minotoro fights in brazil.. he is a muay thai champ.. i think this guy is going to make a splash.. bad news for taylor.. he seems like a quality opponent, but i think he is getting KTFO

victor valimaki vs allesio sakara - valimaki 2nd round submission.. i like sakara, he has some really powerful hands.. unfortunately, that's about all he has.. i believe he could KO anybody in the division if he connects cleanly, but he is very unorthodox and he seems to not follow up when he has the chance to.. valimaki is impressive.. ive seen him fight a few times.. good strikes, good submissions.. 1st round will be a slugfest, 2nd round valimaki takes it to the ground and gets the submission

I'm not up to speed on all the fighters, so I'll just give you what I know:

Crocop vs. Gonzaga - Just give Mirko the title shot already..... KO for Crocop.

Arlovski vs. Werdum - Werdum is a good fighter. No question. But Andrei Arlovski is Andrei Arlovski. 🙂 Arlovski by KO.

Bisping vs. Sinosic - Another 'is he really ready yet' fight for Bisping, and yes, he is. Bisping by KO.

Machida vs. Heath - Machida is about the only real challenge for Liddell outside of Bisping (who's still several fights away) and Rampage (who got the shot too early for it to be a serious threat). Machida by decision.

Kongo vs. Silva - On the ground, Silva is better, but he leaves himself open too. I think he'll probably make a stand and trade out of this and that will be his mistake. Kongo by KO.

Valimaki vs. Sakara - Sakara can box. That's it. Couple that with lousy stamina and Valimaki should have a win if he plays his cards right. Valimaki either by TKO or Submission on the ground.

Gonzaga kicked cro cop so hard. Who would've guessed, a ground guy, kicking cro cop while standing in the head and knocking him out in the first round.

Give him a shot, ppfftt... You have to earn it, he didn't

2007's a bad year to be a favourite eh?

Anderson Silva doesn't get to defend his title.
GSP gets knocked out.
Sylvia gets owned.
Crocop gets knocked out.

And bets on Rampage vs. Iceman next month? lol

Wow

This was a really nice night of fights.

The Cro Cop fight was amazing. Not because I thought Gonzaga couldn't win. I actually thought he had a really good chance at an upset, but I thought it would be a bit more like the Nog fight, Mirko kills and kills standing then a take down and Gonzaga gives a submission clinic. It was the WAY Cro Cop lost that amazed me. He got absolutely owned. I watched the fight a couple of times, he threw ONE legitimately offensive technique, the body kick, and that lead to him getting taken down and absolutely dominated. He was taking some good shots on the ground. It was annoying to me that they stood them up, I mean from a ring strategy standpoing when your fighting in MMA in a cage and you decide to ground and pound (obviously what Ganzaga was at least starting with) a good tactic against a striker who's going to want to get back up is to back his head into the fence, brace it there and use it to hold his head more in place while you throw big shots. It can also cram your neck at an awkward angle making it hard to move your head quickly side to side while avoiding punches in the guard. Why on earth do you stand them up... he was throwing, he was landing, not knockout shots but he was landing elbows he had cut Mirko, but I am almost 100% against stand ups so I guess I am biased. The head kick though I think was just a bad misinterpretation by Cro Cop, at first I thought his guard had to be down to get drilled that viciously, but it wasn't, when the foot came up Cro Cop just assumed I think that it was a body kick, and actually dropped his hand making a path straight to his head, and from my look it was a head kick from the floor up, but it was a reasonable assumption since you don't see a guy like Gonzaga throwing a lot of head kicks. I was just glad to see Cro Cop walk out of the ring. Great fight and the title fight will be amazing I hope.

Arlovski vs. Werdum I know people want action, but I that mentality that you need to be required to run right into a guy is aggravating. It was not a terribly entertaining fight but I'd love someone to tell me how is should have gone differently. Obviously Werdum should have tried to force the issue of a takedown, better to get knocked and have a chance to win than just get beat the way he did (easy to say, not so easy to do when you actually feel the sensation of getting hit or kicked in the face), but for Arlovski, I don't think his fight was so bad all things considered. If he went to the ground with Werdum he would be in serious trouble, he knew it, so he respected the guys ground game and kept his distance, if you keep someone in an outside distance like that what else are you supposed to do if they don't come to you? Move in, be super aggressive like the fans want, and likely get taken down and submitted? Some how that doesn't seem like the best idea no matter how much the fans boo. I hope his next fight is more exciting, I think this one was just an example of what happens if you have a dominant striker not wanting to lose to a grappler and a grappler who is willing to lose by decision rather than push the fight.

And bets on Rampage vs. Iceman next month? lol
Should be a good fight, but I think the Iceman will pull it out. I think they are rushing the Jackson Liddel fight and I don't think Rampage is ready for the new Chuck Liddel. Does that mean I'd be shocked if he won, not really, he is certainly capable of winning, he is a hard guy to beat and a good style to give Liddel problems, but I think the Iceman is ready for that last piece of revenge, and I think he may just get it.

Great fights.

Rampage v. Liddel

There 1st fight was in 2003, so it wasn't a long time ago, if anything time will help rampage, he's younger.

I've seen recordings of rampage and liddel's 1st fight, speed was the key, Liddel threw big shots, rampage ducked and threw 3 or4 quick shots.

I don't think it will go past 2, no matter who wins. Liddels game hasn't changed much over the years, so rampage wil be a lot harder than ortiz.

anderson silva vs nate marquardt - UFC73 - July 7th

i`m not much surprised that Gonzaga won but more as to how he did it.....lol.

CC will be back and i`m sure he`ll win the last 4 on his contract.I`m dissappointed he lost only because it kinda ruins seeing CC v Fedor II and lessens that chance of seeing Randy v Fedor.

i`m glad AA won and while the first rd had some action including him dropping Werdum it was a fairly uneventful fight...although there were a few exchanges later on.

i`m also not surprised Bisping won but i am surprised about the 4 minutes of non-stop punching in rd one. he showed good recovery after taking that knee. Bisping v. Lyoto next....i hope.

Machida`s fight was meh....most of the acton was in the 3rd and it was pretty much all Lyoto.

Bisping and Lyoto would be very intersting....Bisping comes forward and Lyoto is a counter-puncher

as for Chuck and Rampage....

Rampage winning isn`t really an upset considering he`s already beaten him and his only losses in the last few years have come from Chute Boxe alum.

I do hope that Chuck wins though.it is only because i want to see him fight Shogun or Hendo or whoever has that Pride belt(it`ll be Shogun).
