remember as kids, we watched Underdog? I know he was sleeping with Sweet Polly Pure Bred, but..what was his name before he ate the pill in the ring, to become our hero "Underdog". Did he have another name, other than "Shoe shine boy?" Please, this is driving me nuts!!! Help me with this one!

"Shoeshine Boy" was all I ever heard his alter ego called. Unless maybe you count "Humble, Lovable Shoeshine Boy" which is what he was called in the intro to every episode.

Thanks Corruptress!!! I was right, and I won 50 clams...thanks very much...

Congrats! And where is my percentage?

"Not plane, nor bird, nor even frog, it's just little ol' me... Underdog."

BTW- it's still on the Cartoon channel from time to time.

Well now that we have started . . .

Sinc we have started talking about cartoon characters I have to ask this. Remember "Scooby Doo, Where Are You?"? Most of us know Freedy and Daphne were an item but what about Shaggy and Velma? Was The Velmster shagging Shaggy? What do you think.

Jinkies I always thought so! In fact, I wouldn't have been too shocked to find out that Scooby was occasionally still in the room. Nothing like a cold doggy-nose on your bare ass to make you jump and shout!

I am sure about Shaggey, and Daphne. Another question, Corruptress, you seem to know your TV trivia, so maybe you will remember this one. Or anybody out there for that matter.

This was not a cartoon, it aired in about '89..I know this, because I was in 9th grade. Anyway, it was called "Hard Time on Planet Earth." It was on CBS, and about an alien that did a crime, which I cannot remember the severity offhand. But, he was sentenced to Earth. He had a human form, and there was this little robot thing, it kind of looked like an eye..it was there to moniter him, and kept him out of trouble. The alien dude's name was Jesse, and was on Earth til he knew right from wrong, and it took place in LA. The orb, or eye thing was like a parole officer.

I also remember it was on Wednesday nights, this I remember, because my best friend and I religiously watched "Tour of Duty" on Tuesday, and that on Wednesday. Anyone else remember it?

Freddy was a closet homosexual. That's why he was always trying to be the guy in charge, he was overcompensating. He should have just come out of the closet from the start cuz nobody was buying it. As if the ascot wasn't a dead giveaway. I think Daphne was only humoring him but she knew he was gay. Velma and Shaggy weren't an item cuz Velma is too butch and Shaggy's to damn high to get it up.

LOL

Ahem... Well Mayday, seems that you're analyzing this heroic team using the Freudean school of psychobabble. Everything anyone does or thinks is motivated by their sex-drive.

I'd like to point out that Siggy-baby enjoyed sucking on a large black cigar from time to time. When asked about that, Dr. Freud said that his need to suck on phallic-shaped objects was an exception to the theory.

I personally doubt that Freddy was actually a closet homosexual. As for the ascott, as Siggy said - "sometimes a cigar is just a cigar" (a lack of fashion sense is just that, nothing more). I suspect Freddy is just compensating for having a small pee-pee.

I will concede your point, that Velma showed more balls than Scooby and Shaggy put together. The Shagster was undoubtedly coasting on some incredible high he'd achieved a year or two earlier, and just failed to come down from. He was incredibly loyal to his dog however, and I don't think he'd leave Scooby's side. Scooby, on the other hand, would do damn near anything (or anybody?) for a scooby-snack!

Freud Schmeud. I'm talking about real life. Are people motivated by thier sex drive?

YES!

Go to any bar on Saturday night, watch, and learn. And more people do this than you think. Bill Clinton, Marv Albert, Ethan Hawke, Kobe Bryant, Pepe LePew are more extreme examples. I'm sure your co workers are doing this too. Everybody's guilty of it, it's just to what degree. Besides, the conversation was allready in the gutter when I got here.

I've had the "Freddy's gay" debate with several people and they all agree that he is. There's also theories that he's a coke head and his parents in the Hamptons won't have anything to do with him cuz he hangs out with hippies.

This is crap I think about at work when I'm doing something tedious.

Hard Time on Planet Earth

I remember this show only vaguely, as I only saw part of one episode. I found in interesting.

Per IMDB.com (Internet Movie Database), the authority in these matters, the show ran for 13 episodes in part of the 1989-1990 season before cancellation. It starred Martin Kove, who also played the sensei Villain in Karate Kid and had a supporting role in Karate Kid three. This guy consisted played the heavy.

What little I remember of the series was: this guy was accused, but never proven, of being a serial killer. Since his alleged crimes could not be verified, he was deported to Earth by some interstellar government. This government considered Earth to be a backward planet with potential. If he learned from its "primitive" population, then he was capable of reformation and eventual return to his society. If not, this government was willing to accept his staying there indefinitely. And if Earth's people actually learned something from him along the way, so much the better.

The concept of the trial is what most fascinated me. Upon further research, I found some European governments that have "not proven guilty" as a possibility for a verdict in addition to "guilty" and "not guilty".

Hope this helps.
