Update (m/f and f/f)

Hey everyone,

Once again our website has been updated, this time with 41 clips. Also, Carl has done some tinkering with the server so performance should be better for those of you far away like in the US. Feedback appreciated.

Let's see how long this post stays in the forum. The other update posts have simply disappeared after a few days. If a moderator is removing them because there is something on our site that shouldn't be there, please let me know!

Celine, thanks for taking the time and resources to post these clips; you're collection is vast, and I am able to "catch up" on many clips that I have been missing. I have also experienced the slow connection. I use Sprint broadband and have noticed that, while the connection speeds vary, downloading is very slow from your server. I understand that this is a matter of network routing and not anything that you guys can necessary correct. I have run a tracert on the connection, and it has failed since the response times are so slow. As I am in the US, I can tell you that the connection are slower today than they have ever been, at least between my server and yours. It would be interesting to see if, from your side, the connection is equally as slow. I would recommend running the following command from a MS Windows command prompt: "tracert sprintbbd.net". I do believe that the problem originates in the routers and routes that are beyond both of our contol. Thanks again for the great clips!

After scratching his head for a while Carl concluded that the low download speeds are due to the long delay from many of you. Your server is almost 300ms away so the max throughput would be something like 50 KB/s even though we are on 10Mbit connections. Then Carl started talking about latency and transmit windows(?) and I gave up trying to understand. 🙂

We've seen people from nearby places like Belgium and Denmark downloading with more than 400KB/s, so I think we've done all we can to speed up the server, sorry.

Are you talking about the ones that have been moved into the Page Updates forum? The mods are probably moving them there because that's where update notifications for pages such as yours are supposed to go, whereas this is for directly posting clips.
