Anybody here play video games? if so what are your favorite genre of video games? and what consoles do you own?

mines

favorite genre: sports

consoles that i own: xbox and playstation 2 (i also owned playstation 1 but i gave it away when i went to Michigan)

I used to play video games all the time as a kid and young teen. But I've sort of grown out of them now. The only ones I usually play nowadays are the computer strategy game ones, like C&C, Rise of Nations, Star Wars Rebellion, etc.

I still like playing the occasional old school games like Sonic the Hedgehog. Man I used to be so into that. I collected like everything I could for it that was made. I still have most or all of it.

Systems I own/have owned:

Atari (used to own, don't know what happened to it)
Sega Genesis (Own)
Sega 32X (Own)
Sega CD (Own)
Sega Game Gear (Own)
Nintendo (used to own, gave it away)
Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES) (Own)
Gameboy Color (Own)
Playstation (Own, but its broken)
Playstation 2 (Own)

My favorite console? Well, its the Sega CD. But since the Sega Genesis and 32X, and Sega CD all connect to eachother to make one single powerful console, I like refering to it as one system or console, so I call it the " Sega Master System" (not to be mistaken by the actual console of the same name).

Why is it my favorite?

Because it was revolutionary in the cd based game business. It hosted a wide variety of games, and the graphics with live action video were top notch, multimedia, stereo sound, Q-Sound, compatibility with other Sega consoles makes it a far superior old-school system, far better than any one old school system alone.

My favorite games:

Atari- Donkey Kong

Sega Genesis- Beyond Oasis

Sega CD- Silpheed

Sega 32X- Knuckle's Chaotix (of the Sonic series)

Sega Game Gear- Batman Returns

Nintendo- Super Mario Bros. (any of them)

SNES- Star Wars (any of one them)

Gameboy Color- Pokemon (any of them)

Playstation- Tomb Raider (any of them)

Playstation 2- Silpheed: The Lost Planet

Favorite genre: RPG

I play computor games and the PS2. for PS2 i like fighting games and racing games. and on the comp i play warcraft 3 and starcraft

I have Starcraft too, and the expansion pack for that. I haven't played it online though.

Computer Games

I did own a NES way-back-when... currently, I primarily play computer games.

My favorites would be strategy games and RPGs; they include Master of Orion II, StarCraft, Diablo II (when I'm in the mood for mindless hack-and-slash, which is rare of late), Return to Krondor, and the Baldur's Gate/Icewind Dale games. I don't own them, currently, but my favorite RPGs far and away would be those of the Elder Scrolls series (Daggerfall being one of the best known).

The one genre exception which ranks very highly in my own favorites would be the MYST series, which is technically considered 'adventure.' I actually frequent various MYST message forums and, believe it or not, manage to maintain something resembling a 'life' regardless.

Ohhh, Myst, I always wanted to play that game. Its been around a long time and has had several sequels and such. The graphics were always nice, very life-like. Isn't it more like a puzzle/clue game though? I want to play it someday.

Fav system is gamecube....im currerntly addicted to Tales of Symphonia, and Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes. Also playing the hell out of Pokemon Leafgreen on my GBASP

i have Playstation 2. i remember Atari 2600, Nintendo and Sega Genesis. my favorite game(s) have to be John Madden football games. i LOVE this game and believe me, Madden 2005 is a damn good game! i even have the Collector's Edition! that is the BEST game no doubt!

I play video games and mod them as well... I've got a PS2 and an XBOX (both of which are modded). My favorite games are usually first person shooters for the PC. Doom 3 and Deus Ex: Invisible War are my current faves.

MYST itself is a complicated puzzle/clue game; its successors capture that element, but gradually add more of an 'adventure' feel to gameplay... as well as becoming more linear, which I'm sure some individuals like and some detest. "Revelation," the fourth game in the original MYST series, should be out soon (if it isn't already); before that came EXILE, RIVEN, and of course MYST itself. Also out is URU, with (at least) two expansion games; I've yet to play it, but I understand that it's multiplayer (via online servers) and somehow distinct from the original series.

Honestly, I do maintain an actual life.

Oh, and an updated version of MYST was released, some time ago. The original version is semi-realistic; it looks like your surroundings were photographed with an early digital camera. Your computer's graphical capabilities notwithstanding, the re-release is supposed to be almost totally photo-real.

Yeah, I remember the different games in the series, seeing them in magazines and on the shelves. Thanks for the info though, its good to know.
