so this thread is for all us video game freaks.. just general discussion on any game.. so here i go..

ive been playing three games for a week straight.. silent hill 4, finaly fantasy x, and xenosaga II..

i know absolutely everything about ffx and started playing again for the sheer enjoyment.. the first time i played it took me 70 hrs to beat the game.. it was my first RPG.. now, i beat the game in 30 hrs.. i will never get tired of this ps2 classic from square enix.. one of the best games to be put out..

xenosaga II im a little unsure about... the battle system is a little odd and has a few too many elements to think about at once.. but i think it will be a fun and challenging game for me.. as long as i can keep the patience for it..

so silent hill 4... i played silent hill 2 back in the day.. got hooked.. its like resident evil but more evil and "satanic".. the concept of silent hill 4/the title is 'the room'.. basically.. you are locked in your apartment.. from the inside... and a whole appears in your bathroom which takes you to an alternate universe of chaos and evil.. your job is to go through and figure out what the hell is going on while fighting demons, monsters, and things that make you say 'WHAT THE HELL IS THAT'.. it wasnt as creepy as the 2nd one.. but very entertaining and a great game..

other games recently finished/progressed in:
ghost recon 2
grand theft auto : san andreas
killzone
tiger woods pga tour 2004
star ocean : til the end of time
metal gear solid 3 : snake eater

comments anyone???

Been playing them since the NES days. I also have a Sega Game Gear , Genesis and Sony PS2.

Speaking of Sega, a new Best Buy opened up in a town near me and I got the "Sonic Mega Collection" PS2 game disc....it has pretty much EVERY Sonic game before the Sega Dreamcast game, "Sonic Adventure". All 7 Genesis titles and 6 Game Gear titles(which I think you have to unlock..not sure, though).

Man I suck at Sonic The Hedgehog now(the original one)...I remember seeing that at the mall with my sister and dad, when I was 12..I must've played that thing around 15 minutes before he practically had to drag us (my sis was playing the Sonic 2 demo ) away . I was that hooked on the game :jester: . I made it through at least 7 levels that one time, but it's been so long that I can't even get past Level 1, Stage 1, now. :jester: Probably because I'm used to using the Speed Dash attack and Sonic 1 doesn't have that. Anyway, I thought that was cool...I'd only spent around $50 for that disk. Not bad considering if I'd bought all of them when each first came out I would've spent a few hundred.

"Sonic" will always be one of my fave games. Once in a while, I drag out the Genesis, and play it all the way through. I love the music in the "Starlight" level....very lounge-musicy.

Of the current games, I can't get enough of "X-Men: Legends" and "Mercenaries" for my PS2.

That reminds me..on another message board, it was mentioned that Rockstar games has to put an "AO" (Adults Only) rating on GTA:SA now, because supposedly, they have some "sexy mini games" or something in there..

Oh well, I suppose it'll work in Rockstar Games' favor the next time some parent buys their little kid a GTA game and complains there's *gasp!* violence and sexy things in it! 😱 After all, adults will still be able to buy it...and the company DID say that they made the game for adults and adults are the people they want playing it.

There's a downside to that though....by admitting that they put the sexual content into the game, there's more heat on game producers now. You thought that the whole violence/ratings furor was bad....who knows what's going to happen now?

Im playing kill zone for the ps2 and well its not the greatest first person shooter ever. Graphics and sound are nice but the game play could of used some tweaking.

Playing halo 2 and final fantasy crystal chronicles with my friends.

dude i think crystal chronicles is the worst "final fantasy" game ever... a waste of money and time.. halo 2 is awesome no doubt... and get this...

i read somewhere that bill gates, being the sly devil he is, scheduled halo 3 to come out at the same time as ps3... hmm... sneaky...

dude i just read an article about that... in '06 they are adding a new thing where when u snap the ball to the quarterback, he has a "cone" of vision, where if the receiver you are trying to throw to isnt in the cone of vision, its nearly impossible to be accurate with it.. more realism i guess.. but i dunno... i liked its simplicity... ive been playing madden since 2000 came out.. i dont think the graphics could get any better either hah

Madden............come on, now that is a game. My first madden was '97 and have not missed the updated version.

I cant wait for '06 due to this:
NFL Superstar Mode: Create a Superstar and guide his life on and off the field. Choose an agent, earn one of 60 personas, and live the superstar life.

Im thinking that will make the gameplay even more better.

i cant wait for xmen legends 2. The first one was great multiplayer fun. Also, half life 2 for the xbox.

Yeah, Legends is fun. However, I wish they'd finally put the arcade game on home consoles, if only to make fun of the backround music and that voice in the backround going: "X-Men.....eh-eh-eh-eh-X-Men". :jester:

Now THAT was a multiplayer game. Could've done without only being able to use the mutant powers only three times per level, though.

Either that, or make a new version of the arcade game, but in 3-D . (or cell-shaded 3-d like the new TMNT games. Looks almost just like the cartoon, but you can move around in 3-d)

Playing Shenmue II again... God, this has to be the most beautiful game I have ever played... Hong-Kong, Kowloon, Guilin... "The story goes on" they say, well, I can say I really really hope so!!

I got a Sega Mega Drive (what the Genesis was called in the UK) for Christmas in 1991 or 1992. Started playing then and never looked back. The Strike and the Sonic series's were my favourites. I finished Desert, Jungle and Urban Strikes about four times each, each time reaching a new high score. I beat both Sonic 1 and 2, but could only get six of the seven Chaos Emeralds in 2, whereas I could get all 6 in the first. I only played a few levels of 3 on someone else's machine; never bought it myself.

Then there was the Playstation which I got with savings after landing my first regular job in 1997 (and didn't I feel just so grown up? 😀😀😀) at a supermarket. I was stupid enough to get a PS2 in the first few days of them being released and paid the price in some horrifically damaged DVD's because they hadn't got the mix right. I play the PS2 and the Gamecube today, being especially and MGS fan. I will be waiting at least six months, probably a year, to get a PS3 after it comes out. I ain't making that mistake twice!

Matrix Online for PC

Anyone have the Matrix Online for the PC? I've been debating whether or not to get it. It got decent reviews and it's only $20. But my PC screws up enough (not a lot, but enough) as it is without putting a game on it, so I really prefer console games. Matrix: Path of Neo, coming out in November for all consoles should be pretty good. And WWE Smackdown! vs RAW 2006 has a release date of 10/3 at gamestop.com. Hopefully it will be better than the original SD vs RAW. It wasn't bad, but it could've been SO much better. Just get rid of the useless online play, and even more useless voiceovers and you free up a whole lot of memory that can be used for cool stuff.

Just got the Sonic Collection for the PS2 and am happily retro'ing myself to death! 😀

Yeah, same here. Can't get that damn theme music from Sonic 2 outta my head, now, though. lol

Another good game I like is Shinobi for PS2, although it gets pretty hard the further you get into the game. Still, it's fun playing a game that feels like one of Sega's old, cool 2-D games(but in 3-D). If I had enough room, I'd get an X-Box just for their updated Ninja Gaiden. I loved the old NES one.

They should put alot of old games in collections now. I'd love to have some PS2 disks with NES games like

TMNT 1 thru 3 --along with the SNES game "Turtles in Time" and the Genesis game "Hyperstone Heist". (Two of the greatest TMNT games ever)

Contra (don't remember if there's a series of em..if so, put em all in a collection!)

Castelvania series

and the Double Dragon games.

Old Time Arcade Games

I didn't play a lot of arcade games when I was younger, but they had a Woolworth in the mall by my grandma's house, and my favorites there were Gauntlet, Heavy Barrell, and Altered Beast. I wish they'd come out with those for the PS2.

Here's a question that will no doubt get some empassioned answers from gamers either way: do you use cheat codes? Myself, I have a codebreaker CD for my PS2.

here's an old one but a great one. "Shadow Run" for the genesis. One of the best games ever, and if the rumour mill is accurate, they are going to be making one for the Xbox.

Got 4 games for my birthday:

WWE Raw 2
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Star Wars: Battlefront
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2

I also have Sonic Mega Collection Plus for Xbox, and am looking foward to the following games:

Sonic Gems Collection
WWE Day of Reckoning 2
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland
WWE SmackDown! vs. Raw 2006
Star Wars: Battlefront 2
The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction

I'm an old Atari buff myself. My favorite game on that little gem was called "Keystone Kapers" I love this game so much! Also if anyone has ever owned a Turbo Graphix, I used to play a series called "Bonks Adventure" I love that little caveman...

Sometimes I do, if the game is way to hard for me . Other times, I use strategy guides. The guide helped alot with Spider-Man 2(since there aren't any really usefull codes for the game)...

And I'd never have completed Metal Gear Solid without a strategy guide. That game was freakin hard! (and the second one is harder...haven't gotten thru that one yet, and I want to at least get thru it before moving on to the 3rd one)

Sometimes cheat codes backfire on you, though....

Sonic 2 I had a hard time playing without the cheat code for Golden Sonic (or Super Sonic).... I can never get past the boss fight in the second level (the Chemical Plant)..I almost always end up falling into the toxic water below, when sections of the ground aren't solid.

However, even though it's easy to get through most of the game with Super Sonic, there's a catch:

You run out of rings after awhile, since they kind of act like a timer...once your rings run out, no more Super Sonic 'till you get 50 rings again. (and I think there's a Hyper Sonic in Sonic 3 ...or Sonic and Knuckles...that you can get if you get...I think it's 100 rings).

That's usually not a problem....until you get to the final battle in Sonic 2, with Robotnik's egg-shapped battle vehichle. There's no rings around to keep you from loosing Super Sonic or protect you..since you'd have used them all up during your fight with Metal Sonic right before then.

So, even though the cheat for Super Sonic will get you to the last boss fight, it'll make that fight hard as hell without any rings as normal Sonic.
