Video Question

First of all, I am sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but I have just finished editing my debut video (it's a little over 41 minutes long), and did it as a divx file, as those seem to be the most popular

However, the file is HUGE! Over 600 meg, and I am just trying to get it down to at least a managable size, for people to download. Because I know I wouldn't want to download a 600 meg file.

What is the best way to go about this?

You're choices seem to be to either reduce the quality/resolution, or to split the video into several parts. I tend to favor the latter.
