Was this the official end of an era for the Pats?

I'm not going to pretend I know a lot about football. Unfortunately though, I live in Massachusetts where year round the Patriots are spoken of as if they are Gods walking amongst the earth. I realize that the team is very young overall, but Tom Brady is in his mid 30's. I'm sure they have at least another few good seasons in them, but I just don't think it's the same team once Brady leaves. I feel Tom Brady's departure will not only be the end of an era where New England has seen the greatest quarterback that will ever suit up for this franchise, but I don't think that Belicheck will likely stick around after a few more seasons either.

To tell you the God's honest truth, I hope, No I pray, that the Pats return to the terrible team they were in the early 1990's and I stop having to listen to all the crap about how the Pats are going to win the Super Bowl every season, all season long.

oh man, I hope it is the end of their era. The Patriots were "fun" at the start of their run, but then they got arrogant. But, like all football dynasties, nothing lasts forever. The Patriots run is just about over...

I think that the Patriots era has been over since the Super Bowl loss to the Giants. They haven't won a Super Bowl in 6-7 years, and while they remain an elite team, it's not the same.

At the beginning of this season, everyone in New England was talking about how happy they'd be if the Pats ended up 10-6, and backed their way into the playoffs. No one expected the team to do as well as they did, but as soon as they started winning, everyone lost their minds, and picked them to win the Super Bowl by historic margins.

I don't think the Pats are going away. Brady is still one of the best QB's out there, and they have some young talent. (Hernandez and Gronkowski, specifically) They'll still be in the playoff picture for the next 3-5 years, if Brady stays healthy.

No way man I think they have 2 picks in the 1st 2nd and 3rd round of this years draft and 1 is from Minn for Moss and 1 from Oakland so I maybe see a 1 or 2 year slow up but it's just because there reloading.

They have six picks in the top three rds. I'm not a Pats fan but truth is theres no reason for them not to be in the mix until Brady starts to drop off. And right now there are no signs of that happening in the next few years

It's amazing how he knows when to pull the trigger and trade a good player to get the highest value for them, you can hate them but you have to give there front office kudo's.

Like was mentioned before, the Patriots have a ton of early round draft picks next year. And the Patriots almost always draft well. Also, New England is a place that free agents want to play for. I'm not a Patriots fan, but to think that they are "done" is very premature in my opinion. They have one of the greatest owners in the NFL, they're one of the best run organizations in the league, Brady had one of his best years ever (almost a shoe-in for league MVP) aside from a less than stellar game in the playoffs. They're sure to be one of the favorites to win it all again next season.

I think that regardless of all the young talent on board, the Pats will not be much of a powerhouse once Brady is gone. All great teams of an era have a solid quarterback that leads them consitently year after year. It takes a very good quarterback to keep a team on top hear after year. Two teams I don't see being powerhouses in another 3 or 4 years include both the Pats and the Colts.

nah as long as belicheck is the coach that team will always be around i mean they havnt had a losing season in the last ten years..... that is remarkable. i dont know if they will ever win one again but they will be in the hunt

I think that when Brady goes, Belicheck goes too. He's already accomplished everything he can here. 3 rings, an undefeated regular season, coached one of the all time greatest QBs. He can still set out to win another ring in New England, but it's a lot of hassle after being able to work with the same QB for as long as he has done.
