I see most clips these days have a watermark displaying throughout the entire clip.

How do you guys feel about that? Is that just the typical format expected these days?

There's so much piracy these days it's pretty standard to put watermarks all over the videos and pictures

Is there any location on the screen where it is preferred? From a viewer perspective.

It's not surprising. I don't really mind them.

I wonder how hard it is to apply watermarks to videos and maybe more importantly how hard it is to remove them.
What about watermarks for videos each with an individual serial number to track, possibly discourage, and potentially prevent some significant amount of piracy.

The watermarks are easily added, but it is something I didn’t want in my videos for all this time. Now I see them in so many other videos, it seems that I’m one of the only guys not using the watermarks.

They can’t be removed once added, but some people blur them out, or crop them out, and then do what they planned with the footage anyway.

I suggest to models and producers to put those watermarks in, hopefully not obscuring the action in the process. Intros and outros help too. Piracy is going to happen, but the real problem is not being able to locate the studio on pirated content.

Sure, some folks will go the step of cropping or blueing, but mimosa folks are too lazy to do that.

Trivial to add. Every video editing software suite, even the freebies that come with your laptop, allow you to overlay text and images onto your footage. They can't be removed per se, but someone can easily import your video into their own editing suite and either crop out or overlay something else on top of it. Usually their own watermark. Because they're dicks.

Not possible. It'd require a custom render each time you wanted to change the number, resulting in unique videos... none of which would be able to be uploaded to digital distribution platforms like Clips4Sale because they'd all be considered the same clip.

One thing to note, though, is that C4S is currently digitally fingerprinting their entire catalog in an effort to combat piracy. This basically allows them to search the web for content that was originally distributed by their platform and have it taken down. It'll be interesting to see if this has any effect on the industry at large.
