Certain.. words in regard to the weather.. just drive me.. nuts lol.

Grapple. I've heard weather forecasters use this on TV.

Overcast.

I've heard this used.. when I was landing in a plane at an airport.. by a pilot, years ago, because I havent flown since 1994, and by a weather forecaster. Most people I know.. just say.. Cloudy.

Any other.. annoying weather words?

It's been so long since I watched a TV weather forecast I can't really think of any words they use.

BTW, what do they mean by "grapple"?

I used the wrong word.. sorry. Grapple means something else than what I thought, and it has nothing to do with weather.

We know though, that "overcast" is a weather related word, and it is one of my least favorites.

I never liked the word "nor'easter." It's meant to describe a storm coming out of the northeast, but it sounds very hick to me.

Barney, having lived in the NY and PA areas my whole life, I've experienced quite a few nor easters.

A nor easter is basically a storm with high winds, and heavy precip, either rain, sleet, or snow, that hits the north eastern part of the US. It usually strikes anywhere from the NJ coast to Maine, but sometimes could be as far south as Maryland or the DC suburbs, depending on who is defining it.

I just figured the word I wanted to use for weather,, and it definitely does have to do with weather.

Virga..

Precip that isnt reaching the ground.

I hate the word Virga. Weather people use it all the time.

This is definitely a weather word. The word itself, and the definition, are confirmed in an article about the word, in the wikipedia.

Verga? Wasn't that a General Motors concept car? 🙂

The one word I can't stand is "frost". Not this late in fucking MAY! They're predicting it for Friday and Saturday night here.

No, kop...that was Vega. Mitch - I think "overcast" was a word made to make the weatherpeople sound really smart.....just saying "cloudy", well, duh! What I hate, down here in Georgia, is now when the possibility of snow appears, we have a "snowpocapalypse". Just generating fear, and idiotic behavior (of which we have more than enough of down here...).

A lot of TV stations use their weather radars to give their "Futurecasts".

'Changeable conditions' is always a good cop-out for the forecasting team!

Somebody once asked me, 'Do you like weather?'.
It took me a while to get my head around the question.
