my mother now knows that I like to be tickled. It came up last night at a friend's house. The friend and I both like feathers and we were explaining the reasons for it. Then, we talked about fringe. I actually came out and said "Actually, anything that provides a tickling sensation, I'm in." My mother didn't react negatively, only said "And this coming from a girl who couldn't stand to be Touched when she was little. I merely said, I've changed. I like anything tactile that isn't painful.
Of course, I didn't talk about the sexual aspect of it. She wouldn't understand or accept that. But, at least I can be tickled now and don't have to cover my reaction. It's a relief, truly it is.

No fetish. I just like it. Even the most vanilla of people will accept that and if they don't, well that's their problem, not yours.

Earlier this year, I told my brother who lives in CA about my interest in tickling and even told him about the TMF, which interested him quite a bit for somebody not really into tickling. Fortunately, no big deal was made about it and like Crydun, I'm glad that the information is out there so that I don't have to worry about the shock or impact of such a revelation any more.

Sounds good to me. Actually I'm not sure why most people stay in the closet with their families: most of the time, one's relatives won't inquire very deeply into one's sexual interests. It's just more than they want to know. Heck, my sister in law is kinky, and knows I am, but she still doesn't want to see any of my photography. She says it's "too close to my brother-in-law's sex life."

A gay man or woman does need to be out, I think, just so their partners get the sort of treatment they deserve from family. But that's not an issue for most fetishes. So on balance there's not much reason to share or much reason to hide one's kinks from family. I just go with whichever takes the least effort, myself.
