What Commedian do you wish were dead?

I thought I'd never find someone who would mention George Lopez. Seriously, I have spent days in a frothing rage, mind filled with comebacks to half the shit he goes on about. From the Mexicans vs White People to the "Kids these days [suck ass and my generation is awesome]" (inside brackets is my interpretation). I mean, yeah some comedians were built on "My Race vs White People" like Dave Chappelle, but at least he threw in complimentary comments toward white people and pointed out the flaws in black people every now and then. Not to mention he called it quits at about the right time (very much IMO).

And, so it's been said, I have no issue with ethnic comedians poking fun at white folks...white people are fuckin' hilarious and I can take a good joke. But...if it's funny. Which George Lopez is not. He's just passive-aggressively insulting. And many times, not even all that "passive" about his aggression.

To agree with you, Dave Chappelle pulled off the whole white/black thing wonderfully. Everyone was fair game. Just to cite one example, his sketch about the blind, black White Supremecist...who didn't know he was black. He somehow managed to poke fun at both, and was hilariously funny in the process. The KKK is a part of "white folks" that needs to made fun of. At every possible turn. Only by reducing these fringe groups of humanity to jokes can we ever really eradicate them. It's when you take things too seriously or decide to "go to war" over it that you lend them credence. Which they should not have. Chappelle just fuckin' rocked at doing that.

I don't know how we can be on Page 6 and not mention David Letterman. The marquee un-funnyman of late night TV. "Let's use the same joke for an hour and see if we can get someone to laugh at it!"

Not that I wish anyone dead, but that he'd stayed a weatherman.

woohoo, old thread lives again!

Like others, I'm not really up with the whole 'death' thing, but there are certain comedic careers that could disappear and my XM radio comedy channels would be a little less lame. The key comedic offense? Being boring. Jim Gaffigan's the number one pick... boring as hell. Yeah, Dane Cook's an easy choice, so scratch him off the program list too. Demetri Martin... BORING! I never got into Seinfeld... boooooring. Same with Jay Leno. I don't consider Sandler and Ferrell to be comedians, but if they were I'd put them on the list too, along with Ben Stiller.

Come to think of it, Bill Hicks and Bernie Mac were crappy comics, but they're dead
already, so there.

Not out of fear of a curse;you shouldn't because it's a mean thing to do.You should be more polite and respectful of people then that.If you don't like someone you don't have to watch them, you can change the channel.

Oh yes. Definitely out of fear of a curse. For if people did have not terrible, awful things to forbode and fear, how would anybody know to be a good person?

Before you bother replying, no, that definitely was not sarcasm. I was being totally serious.

That damn lame ass Ricky Gervais! He is the shittiest excuse for a comedian I have EVER seen. He wasn't funny on Grand Theft Auto 4 and his little Adult Swim show ain't funny either.

I don't think people are good people out of fear,Purple...maybe some are good out of fear of the law but I think most are just honestly good people.Who are loving, caring and generous.

Sandler did indeed at least once do stand-up routines, and they sucked arse. And you did NOT say Bill Hicks above. Please, tell me that was a fucking typo.

Oh, and while I'm here, allow me to add Kat Williams to the list of preferably deceased.

I agree with everything you just said.

What are you, some kind of liberal secular humanist? 🙂

Let me change the subject just for just a moment - here are a few comics whom I wish were still alive:

George Carlin
Lenny Bruce (taught GC everything he knew!)
and yes, the late, great, if somewhat strident Bill Hicks!

I'd love to hear all 3 on a National Public Radio interview peogram. Betcha Charlie Rose or Terry Gross would never be able to keep up with the 3 of them!

Bah...wishing people dead is a waste of time. Now if you'll excuse me I've got more important things to do.

(begins writing in a pitch black notebook)

(friend comes along)

Friend: WHOA WHOA ROX! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?

Rox: What? I'm writing stuff I need to do for tomorrow.

Friend: Don't write in that book! It's a death note!

Rox: A what?

Friend: A DEATH NOTE. ANY PERSON'S NAME YOU WRITE IN THAT BOOK WILL SUFFER A FATAL HEART ATTACK ROUGHLY A MINUTE AND A HALF AFTER WARDS.

Rox:...oh sssnnnaaappp....

Friend: SNAP! SNAP! WHAT DID YOU DO ROX!

Rox: Well, first I wrote down the names of all the people I forgot to send Christmas cards too...guess it's a moot point now.

Friend: (faces is literally a mask of disbelief)

Rox: Then I wrote down a short list of groceries I need to pick up..

Friend: (with his face in the palm of his hand) I swear to god if you gave heart attacks to all the Hostess Snack Cakes of the world I will MURDER YOU IN YOUR SLEEP!

I don't think people really mean they wish death on someone here. It's more of a "which comedian do you wish had never become famous" or "which comedian do you dislike with a passion" etc. The humor is in the hyperbole, which has apparently been lost on some.

umm.....no...I just don't think it's right to wish someone dead....

I know. I was only goofin' on you. I totally agree with what you said earlier on about most people acting out of kindness rather than fear of the law.

I myself would shed no tears if every McDeath's – I mean McDonald's or KFC spontaneously disappeared! (There used to be a diner a couple of hours from here which served absolutely top-shelf fried chicken!)

Oh,okay lol...and I thought KFC would have good chicken..

If I had to choose.... I would have to vote for Glen Beck. 😀
