It can be anything, so long as it involves you actively doing or partaking in something that is improving your own existence. Some things that I do…

Lifting weights, magnesium jacuzzi baths, stretching, elliptical, BEING TICKLE TORTURED, cuddles with my wife/pets, taking care of my feet day to day, having green drinks, furthering my educational endeavors…just to name a few 🙂

Your turn!

Spending time in nature, giving myself spa days, and quiet time in the dark. Our senses of sight and sound are always on and we don't notice when the nervous system gets exhausted from all the overwhelming stimuli, so spending time in the dark and quiet allows your nervous to rest.

Also, reading and learning are always great ways of self care, everyone talks about exercising your body to stay healthy but your mind needs it too. Too much "junk food" from outside media sources is so bad for your mental health. It's good for it to digest some healthy facts and thoughts! 😋

Love your insights Miss! Thanks for sharing!

Studying something not for practicality, but for personal interest. It is also great for meditation.

Right now, I'm reading an International Relations scholarly book, because looking around the world these days, how could anyone not, and also reading '22 Cells in Nuremberg'. (If you've seen the movie Nuremberg, it's the book the psychiatrist guy wrote after the Trials.)

Just noticed this and had to look it up as I'd never heard of it. A type of exercise, right? For a moment, I thought part of your self-care regime was being terse! "Yes, I like to reserve energy by being very economical with my words." lol

Anyway, while I'm here...

I go for walks in the countryside (the quieter the better). I read non-fiction, particularly local history; I think it's nice to know a bit about where you live and/or where you come from. I watch/listen to ASMR and other quiet, relaxing videos, though I suppose that's more passive than active (I'm too lazy for meditation so that's about as close as I get). And I try to steer clear of things that I know will put me in a bad mood - not always possible though obviously!

I've been struggling alot lately to take care of the inner me so to speak. So many things have been going on that I just haven't had time to slow down and consider a VERY IMPORTANT question like this.

The mind, and body will always find a way to get your attention though. Trust me.

Personally I enjoy getting outside and hiking, exploring, gardening, and growing foods.
Lately I've tried to do some Tai Chi exercises (slow, mindful movements), and miliary calisthenics.

I also like to study psychology, history, and philosophy.
There's so much to learn; both about ourselves as well as about other people, places, and ideas.
Sometimes we just have to get outside of our own heads.

Its easier said than done, but when the mind-body throws you to the floor and demands that you listen; have some grace, and take care of yourself.💞

We all matter more than we realize.😉
Awesome question!
Thanks for posting it.🍻

Sorry to hear you've been struggling. Can't say I've been doing a particularly good job of it myself lately either. Funny how a little dip in morale can quickly become a nosedive if you're not careful.

Cheers! 🙂

Just trying to live day to day and not think too much about the future...i tend to read, or watch scary movies, or youtubers that i enjoy and that can get me out of my head for a bit...i'm a bit of a worrier...and having turned 70 last November has me realizing that my time is getting short...so i try to view each day with my husband as a gift to cherish, not to complain because he doesn't want to do anything but watch tv...just the fact that he is around now ( he retired in June 2020) and that he might not be around as long as i will be, which is a huge fear for me ....our retirement hasn't gone as i'd planned, thanks to covid and the rising cost lately of everything....but most of all i try to not watch any political news...

All in all you can sum up my inner self care from the title of an old song, "Life is just a fantasy, can't you live this fantasy life" by Aldo Nova...an underrated musician IMO.
